CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE:

"She got hurt, Senjuro. And it's all because she didn't listen to me!"

"W-we're sorry, brother! This wasn't supposed to happen.."

"It wouldn't have happened if you guys just listened to me."

Senjuro's eyes were filled with remorse and regret, lips curling in distaste. He hung his head low, eyes slowly brimming with tears.

"Sorry."

Kyojuro could merely sigh in aggravation, arms crossed and the rage in his eyes were still noticeable. He couldn't do much now, anyways.

A tinge of regret complimented Kyojuro's features, a curse escaping his lips as he remembers the practically lifeless body he left behind.

He should've finished him off- That was the plan anyways. But he considered (Y/N)'s terror and fear first, before indulging in his blinded rage.

Kyojuro's hand came to once again ruffle his already dishevelled hair; This is the third time he's done this, and yet, it doesn't seem to help ease the anger that radiated.

He sighed, "I'm sorry too. It wasn't your fault." Kyojuro's hand came to comfortably pat Senjuro's back.

"Maybe we should contact the police." Senjuro then suggested after a while of rather uncomfortable silence.

His older brother nodded at this idea.

Kyojuro went to grab his phone from his back pocket and handed it to Senjuro, "Use this. That fucker wouldn't have gone far, anyways."

The two were immediately silenced when they heard a scream that lead towards (Y/N)'s room.

And without having a moment waste, Kyojuro quickly sprung into action and rushed to check it everything was alright.

He swung the door open only to see a weeping Tanjiro Kamado giving (Y/N) a bear hug.

Tanjiro's eyes were closed shut, and beads of fresh tears slowly ran down his reddening cheeks.

"(Y/N)! (Y/N)! Your finally awake! I'm so sorry- We should've kept a closer eye on you!!"

With each weep and as Tanjiro's hugs grew tighter, Kyojuro couldn't help but be ticked off.

His signature enthusiastic smile was plastered on his lips, but the aura emitting from him was anything but.

Tanjiro is one exceptional student, with high grades and formal attitude. But he wasn't about to squabble with him for (Y/N)'s feelings.

He heaves out a fake cough, earning Tanjiro's attention as the boy turned to look at Kyojuro's direction.

"Give her some space, Kamado." Kyojuro tried to sound cheerful, but it was hard due to him gritting his teeth while he said those words.

Tanjiro immediately got the memo, considering the fact that (Y/N) was probably not in the mood for a bear hug.

He quickly apologized to both (Y/N) and Kyojuro, then promptly fixed himself in his seat. "I-I'm sorry!"

Relief washed Kyojuro's face as he saw the now calmed state. (Y/N) was in her bed, safe and sound.

He doesn't have to worry about anything else for now.

But he still worried, maybe a bit to much.

(Y/N) gained multiple cuts and a small bruise on her arm, and it ticked him off to the core.

He wanted to go back to the scenes and finish what he started; Not just for (Y/N), but for himself as well.

Kyojuro was certain that we won't ever sleep conformably at night ever again, knowing that her attacker was still out there.

He was relieved to see her okay, but that didn't stop the rage fill him on the inside. Kyojuro blamed himself for this mishap, but it was partially (Y/N)'s fault since she didn't listen to him.

(Y/N)'s melodic voice had Kyojuro's thoughts halting to a stop.

She heaved out a small sigh as she spoke, "Was the guy caught? I saw someone beating him up... But I can't remember who it was."

His eyes grew wide in bemusement- So she didn't remember. Maybe that was for the better.

Kanao was the first one to answer her, "Well your night in shining armour saved you from that creep. You should really thank Reng-"

She was immediately cut off by Kyojuro. With a bright and cheerful smile, Kyojuro then chimed in. "You don't have to worry about that, (Y/N). Does your head still hurt?"

(Y/N) nodded her head, "I can't remember much. I think I need more sleep." She sighed.

Kyojuro went out the room to look for their medical supplies. After a while, the Kamaboko squad got out the room and softly closed the door.

Tanjiro spotted Kyojuro on their way out, so he decided to bid him goodnight.

"Sensei, we're going home now. I brought her some soup and extra medicine- I left them on her desk." Tanjiro smiles.

Kyojuro merely nodded his head, Balancing the two glasses of water in his hands. "Alright. Thank you, Kamado. Get home safe, all of you."

Tanjiro bowed, then said his goodbyes once more before dragging the bundle of nerves he calls his friends.

Nezuko held her older brothers hand, profanities escaping her lips as they walk out the door. "Hmm! Hmm hmm." She huffed.

"We can visit (Y/N) tomorrow, Nezuko." Tanjiro sighed.

Senjuro and Kyojuro were the only ones left.

And while the younger Rengoku was still a bit jittery after the last talk he had with his brother, he built up enough confidence to speak.

"Brother, are we going home now?" He asked him, then receiving a curt nod afterwards. But Kyojuro's words caught Senjuro off guard.

"You'll be going home. I need to check on (Y/N), make sure she drinks her medicine and eats." He gruffly answered.

Senjuro wasn't up for another rage fill with his brother, so he didn't bother arguing. Plus, it'd be for the better.

(Y/N) needs someone to watch over her, and who is more acceptable than Kyojuro Rengoku?

He's her responsibility, and he promised Mitsuri that he'd care for her younger sister.

And that is what he intended to do.

Kyojuro ushered his younger brother out the door. Another round of "goodnights" and "see you laters", Senjuro was finally outside.

His older brother watched as Senjuro's silhouette slowly started to disappear, waiting patiently and making sure that he was out of sight.

Then, Kyojuro closed to door and started navigating his way towards (Y/N)'s room.

They have a lot to talk about.
