Sethan
I stood flustered as Kaitlin headed straight to Quinn who was already on his bike.
What was this woman doing to me?
"Can I bum a ride?" she muttered over the motor with her hands tucked deep into my sweater pocket.
Quinn tilted his head at her words and the audience he'd now noticed he'd earned. His response was curt, "No, I like my limbs thank you."
"Huh?" she replied utterly unaware of her surroundings. Had I not made things clear to her? I might've not officially told my wolves she was my mate but I had confessed to her about wanting her.
Quinn drew his shoulders in at my presence across from them on the front yard. I was scaring him and drawing eyes. I tried to count to ten. A few of my wolves whispered but I could only hear Quinn as he leaned over at her on his bike.
He lowered his voice a bit, "Haven't I been nice to you? Why are you trying to get me killed again? "
Kaitlin rubbed her palms on my sweats at his sudden accusation, "I don't know wha-"
"Kate," I barked and saw her flinch. I was beyond livid to care. Why the fuck was she asking him when I was right there? "In the car."
Kaitlin glanced around her as if I hadn't spoken. Her eyes went to Javier who sat behind Jared, travelled to Adonis who was staring up at the sky, and over to Shaw who had his truck window down. Leon who sat next to Shaw was the only one to make eye contact with her. She took a step towards the truck causing Shaw to frown and Leon's shoulders to slowly shake in silent laughter.
She'd finished inching her head when she felt me behind her. I refrained from touching her. The last thing I needed was for her to mistake my presence for someone else attacking her.
I managed to use my words, "You're still recovering." Kaitlin turned at my voice, confusion evident on her face. She didn't meet my eyes, not immediately. I tapped the underside of her chin for a split second. I had needed to feel her. She'd made her rejection to me public and my wolf wasn't standing for it. I tried to be subtle about it and mask it with what could be interpreted as an insult, "If you're a good girl, I'll give you a ride when you're healed."
From the corner of my eye, I saw Quinn shake his head, Shaw sighed and Leon held his grin wide. The brat was enjoying my torture.
Kaitlin stepped back, "Uh, no need." and half turned towards Quinn again. Quinn threw his hands up and mimicked Adonis as he threw his nose up into the sky. I now understood what Adonis was staring at.
My wolf sank to the surface, and she freezes at his sound. I scooped her stiff form up and headed towards my SUV. A few others had already gotten in, including Amanda riding shotgun.
Kaitlin didn't go easy. "What are you-" she kicked, slapped, punched, and elbowed into me. "Put me down!" I did my best to restrain her.
"Quit it." I snarled at her, "Stay still." Kaitlin bit my shoulder and I felt her tiny teeth through my leather jacket. I reached the car and tapped the hood for Amanda to get out. She did as signalled although reluctantly slow.
"And let you manhandle me? Fuck off!" Amanda growled on my behalf and Kaitlin didn't seem to hear it. She kneed into me as Amanda flashed her teeth. One look from me and Amanda snapped her jaw shut. Kaitlin went on with her screaming, "There should be a limit to your jokes!"
What the hell was she talking about? When was the last time I joked with her? I forced her onto the passenger side and strapped her in. It was only when I gripped the door to slam her shut that I realized that she must've been referring to the bed earlier. She'd looked so adorable quiet, not mouthing off and kicking.
