Sethan
I had bought the apartment across from Kaitlin while she'd been injured and instructed Aiden to camp in there for the time being. Keep watch from afar. The distance would keep her from cooking up anything else. Kaitlin hadn't been joking when she texted me about Aiden's new peeing abilities. Looking back, I'm surprised that I hadn't believe her. She had already called the cops on my wolves for drinking in front of her property. I don't know how I was going to get them to trust her. The Moon goddess was truly laughing at me.
What really set me off was Aiden's voice text explaining she'd gone out to a bar with the vampire. I'd specifically told her to kick him out.
Can anything in my life ever be easy?
Kaitlin sat wearing a cropped tank top and leather pants. I couldn't see her feet but suspected she had on boots. The blood whore, like expected, sat next to her at the bar. The last time they'd been so close to one another, she'd had stabbed him but the previous time they'd been short from kissing.
The vampire turned, clearly sensing me, and stood up. He began to lean towards her but stopped short. With a louder voice than he'd likely intended, he announced, "I'll go get us more drinks."
"What? Where are you-" Kaitlin started in confusion. They were sitting at the bar and the bartender was only a few feet away. Him going elsewhere for drinks made no sense.
I restrained the urge to send his stool flying and sat on it calmly instead. One look at me and Kaitlin started to slide to her feet as well. To keep her there, I grabbed her elbow, "I told you to kick him out. Not leave with him."
Unlike her expression, her voice didn't sound startled at all, "And I told you not to boss me around."
"We had a deal." I reminded her.
"Today isn't Friday." she had me there.
"Thanks to your decision, we're having two dates back to back." I parted my legs a bit further, to brush against hers and reached for her fries. Had he bought them for her?
She turned her body to block them with her arms, "Get your own."
I bite back a growl and waved the bartender over. She was blond, short and petite. Like most of the staff, she was human. She took my order swiftly. I wasn't even hungry.
When she left, Kaitlin surprised me by staying. I half expected her to abandon the tiny bit of beer that was left and take her fries to go. "Did you really claim me?"
My mouth moved on it's own, "I did."
"Why?" she questioned, finally holding my eyes.
Her gaze made me anxious for an entirely different reason. Part of me was alarmed and part of me was relieved. Leon must've brought it up to her. Either that or Augustus had called her. It had barely been an hour since I'd made an official announcement on the matter. I'd wanted to do it after speaking to her but after my stunt of carrying her in front of the pack, and hugging her for all to see... I'd made it to obvious. The need to keep her safe overpowered her say in the matter. "Take a wild guess."
She scrutinized my face. I had no idea what she was looking for. She seemed hesitant, "You're planning to take over the world?"
Of course she'd make this into a joke. Had this been before, I would've totally have taken her seriously. I humoured her, "You can help with that?" For a short moment, she didn't answer which made me reflect on the chances of her actually being able to. I remembered how Augustus didn't bat an eye as she insulted him in public by calling him birdbrain, and the fact that the fae Queen's son was protective of her. I also recalled the lava tiger she carried around her neck with her every where she went.
