"You have our permission to kill it, Liebling." Devlin smirked and disappeared into thin air leaving Sethan brimming with fury.
I don't know how his thin white shirt remained intact.
"He didn't mean you." I explained quickly but Sethan didn't seem to hear me. "You're early." I repeated trying to reach some kind of life. He snapped out of it then or I thought he did but his wolf eyes were the ones to meet mine.
"Why was he here?" he demanded, voice only just passing for human.
I couldn't formulate words. Not when I could vividly remember how Devlin had walked in on me.
My shoulders moved of their own regard.
I found my voice after stepping further inside, "He visits sometimes."
I fought hard to keep from running. My gut was screaming this was a territorial thing on his wolf's part but it didn't make him any less terrifying. I was sure I'd seen canines when he'd growled.
Sethan shadowed behind me, "I don't like it."
I turned off the movie and began to clean up. Sethan stood watching from behind the couch. He looked like he was about to pop a vein or four.
I gestured to couch.
He pure growled before his voice formed coherent words, "I'm not sitting there." His last word dropped with venom.
I simply sat hoping a relaxed pose at a submissive level would help him snap out of it.
"Why was he here?" he asked again.
I brought my eyes back to his, "Is that hostility in your voice?"
Sethan crossed his arms, a defensive gesture. He was jealous. His refusal to sit made it clear as day. I found myself grinning and had to force myself to stop.
"You're acting like a two year old." Although I was no longer smiling, he managed to catch my slightly playful undertone. His eyes didn't falter for long as his wolf gleamed back towards the surface. I couldn't help but glance at his lips. I'd seen correctly, those things were sharp. He'd been a hair away from wolfing out.
Sethan didn't budge, "I'm still waiting for an answer."
I rolled my eyes hoping he'd feel how silly he was being.
"I'll think about it if you sit." I compromised.
Sethan's chest rumbled and after I somewhat patiently tapped my fingers on the armrest in an obviously bored waiting gesture, he sat.
"Was that so hard?" I teased and stood, maneuvering myself between his legs just as he tried to shoot up.
I touched his cheek, feeling a bit of his jaw rough with stubble.
His brows twitched at the contact.
"Do not distract me." he warned.
I chuckled, pleased my touch had that kind of effect.
"I'm not, Meathead. Just try not to freak out." I muttered and spoke the ancient words my mother had often done to me, "Muilis imalugo." and with that, I showed Sethan the body Noah had borrowed for me to examine.
Sethan jerked under me but didn't pull away.
I narrated briefly what I showed him.
"He wants you to kill it." Sethan gathered aloud, eyes still glazed over with the image I was projecting in his mind.
