Andrew

Since I've been back home, everything has been full steam ahead business wise. I had a ton of orders for my sauce line, plus I'm in the works of adding spices and Cody suggested I set up a stand in his shop. I was selling it out of the bar and restaurant, but as quickly as I stocked the shelves, they sold out. The demand is high and having the commercial space, I've thankfully been able to keep up.

I don't know how Lauren did it, but she had a crew come and help, plus I've hired staff to help package the remaining orders. She said she would help and she went above and beyond. She convinced me to take a day off since I've been working nonstop and we're going to spend the day together. Nothing in particular planned, just nothing work related.

Arriving at her parent's house, I saw that Lauren was outside, but she wasn't alone. The mystery person has her pinned against the front door. I saw a vehicle with out of state plates, not abnormal especially for rentals. Then it dawned on me. Son of a bitch really had the balls to come confront her at her parents house.

I stepped out of my truck and headed in her direction. I called out her name to divert his attention away from her. She looked relieved to see me as I closed the distance between us. The guy turned and gave me a heated glare.

"You alright, darling?" I asked Lauren, never taking my gaze off the man in front of me.

She didn't respond, but wrapped her arm around mine. Carson stood there and shook his head. I saw the anger flash in his eyes.

"What the hell is he doing here, Lauren?" he said, pointing at me.

He puffed out his chest which honestly made me laugh. All that did was piss him off even more.

"What part of what I do with my life no longer being your concern is not clicking through your head? We are done, we're through! I've moved on. Now, for the last time, get off my parents property!"

He closed his eyes and I watched as he balled up his fists.

"I've been trying to tell you how sorry I am. What more do you want? Lauren, I gave you space but this has gone on for too long now. I just proposed to you. What's a bigger commitment than that? I'll give it all to you. I love you. Please, forgive me Lauren."

He knew he fucked up and here he was begging. I glanced at Lauren to see her reaction. Her face was cold.

"You're a joke Carson. Once upon a time, I did love you. I was head over heels in love with you. You knew I loved you. That's why you're here now, right? Thinking love will bring us back together? You hurt me in the worst way, Carson. Cheating with my best friend for a year? Never believing in me? Making a joke of my career? Slandering my name to the media? Don't remember any of that? You always wanted me in your shadow. I'm over this. I'm over us. We are through. There is no Carson and Lauren. Get that through your head!"

"We have a life together. We've spent nearly the last 5 years together and you're going to throw it all away?"

I heard a chuckle come out of Lauren.

"We had a life together. You threw that all away, not me. Let's be honest though, you don't treat people you care about the way you treated me. You have Shayna now and..."

"No, I don't! That was a one time thing. Babe, you have to believe me."

"I wholeheartedly believe you're full of shit."

"Lauren, I don't know what the fuck is going through your mind, but you need to hurry up and come to your damn senses."

I frowned.
