Lauren

Now that my family knows I'm back in Texas, my phone has been ringing non stop. Tonight is family dinner at Uncle Teo's and Aunt Mandy's and then we'll be heading out for a night of fun. I haven't seen my Godfather. I've actually been dodging him. No surprise he requested I come over a little earlier so we could talk. I'm hoping it wouldn't be the same type of talk that I had with my grandparents.

|Flashback|

After hanging out with Ruby, I went back home to take a shower and catch a nap before heading over to my grandparents. My alarm went off at 5pm and I got dressed to go to head over to their house for dinner. No one was home when I left. I relaxed on the leather seats of my moms car. I haven't had a car since high school. Maybe it's time I get one.

Getting to my grandparents, I annoyingly rang the doorbell. The door swung open and my grandma smiled from ear to ear when she saw me.

"My squish! You're home!" she said, pulling me into the house.

"Welcome home. We have a lot to catch up on, huh? We'll get to that. I'm just so happy to see you. I missed you."

"Missed you too, grandma."

"There she is," I heard from behind me.

Turning I saw my grandfather, Dr. Tyler Law. Just as my grandmother did, he pulled me into a hug.

"You get any rest?"he asked.

"Yeah. I went and did pilates and had lunch with Ruby then fell asleep. I'm sure I'll sleep like a rock tonight."

"Well, dinner is ready. Let's eat," grandma commented.

Going to the dining room, I felt a warmth come over me smelling the home cooked food. As I requested, there was the Shrimp Alfredo plus garlic bread and salad. I also saw my grandma had made not only cookies but cinnamon buns as well.

"Grandma..."

She waved me off.

"Don't even say it. I know how much you love my cinnamon rolls. I know you requested cookies, but I made both. You can take the rest home and let your dad and brothers fight over them."

"Nope, these are staying here," my grandfather cut in, taking the plate.

Grandma slapped his hand.

"Tyler, I already made you a batch. Don't be greedy."

I laughed at their banter. Dinner was delicious and we chatted about my trip and what not. Heading to the living room, I was just left with my grandfather. I know a trap when I see one.

"I want to talk to you about something," he quietly said.

"What's that, grandpa?"

"These hangovers you've been having."

"Grandpa..."

He held up his hand.

"Don't lie to me, Lauren. I thought drinking was done with."

"I had a few margaritas last night," I mumbled.

He squinted his eyes. He always did that when he knew we were lying and wanted to catch us.

"What else did you have?"

I sighed.

"Did you talk to my dad?"
