I looked at Lauren. I couldn't tell if she was confused or angry. Hell, it could be a mix of both.

"Andrew, what do you mean you ran into my ex."

"He came to the bar."

"What? Why didn't you tell me?"

"Darling, I'm telling you now."

"But..."

"Listen, I handled the situation and honestly didn't need you to worry about it while you were away working. I was going to tell you as soon as you got back and we could talk face to face . If it was an emergency situation, yes, I would've told you immediately. Trust me when I tell you there was nothing pertinent about interrupting your work flow to tell you I had a run in with your ex."

She sighed.

"What happened?"

"Well the day you left, I went to the bar and my manager, Adam, informed me that a guy came by the bar talking shit about you and mentioned me. I went and checked the cameras and asked Ruby if it was your ex as I suspected it to be. I looped in your dad."

She groaned.

"My dad, Andrew? Really?"

"I wanted to make it clear to him that while you're his daughter, you're my girl now. I'm going to do whatever I need to in order to protect you."

"I don't..."

"Stop it. Don't even let what you're about to say come out of your mouth. You're mine, Lauren Law. I protect what's mine. It's not a burden to me. It's not a headache. I don't care what story you could conjure up to try and change my mind. I don't give a fuck what your ex did or how he maneuvered with you. That's not who I am. I'm never going to make you feel less than. I'll never make you choose or settle. You are your own person, I'm here to support you."

She silently nodded.

"So how did you two run into each other?"

"Long or short version."

She gave me a look and I laughed.

"Alright, long version it is."

It was just after 6pm. I was in my office. I looked down to see that men of the Law family had entered. They usually came in together without their wives once a week.

I smiled thinking of Lauren. These men loved her to the ends of the Earth. She was so well liked and loved by many. I just want her to see that in herself. My darling is still so guarded, but I'll break through all of that one way or another.

I turned off what I was doing and headed down to greet them. Looking around the table, I saw Logan, Matteo, JJ, Patrick, Dr. Law, Mr. Dave, Mr. Brandon, Mr. Tucker, and Detective Tatum. Logan smirked when he saw me. Before he could speak, Matteo did.

"Well, well, look who came to give us the best service this bar has to offer."

I laughed and all eyes turned to me. I went around shaking each of the men's hands.

"How are y'all tonight?"

"Doing well, son. How are you?" Dr. Ty asked.

"Doing fine myself, sir. Can I get you guys anything?"

"A round of beers would be great," Mr. Brandon asked.

"No problem."

I went to the bar and put in the orders and let the waitress know that I'd be covering the bill. They hated when I did that, but oh well. I grabbed the beers and took it back over to their table.
