Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful. We met their mother's boyfriend, Mr. Henry and they seemed to hit it off well. I could see the apprehension in her face when he arrived. Had we not been there, maybe they would've given him a hard time, but they were on their best behavior and welcoming. I know they're protective of their mother. I've quickly learned that the Anderson brothers don't hold punches when it comes to expressing how they feel.
As we helped Ms. Abby clean up, the guys sat outside with Mr. Henry taking guy stuff.
"I want to thank you ladies again for coming and joining us for Thanksgiving," Ms. Abby stated as we finished cleaning up.
"It was a pleasure meeting you, Ms. Abby. Seeing someone on FaceTime versus in person is a totally different experience," Harper commented.
While we had not met their mother in person, we had seen her on FaceTime calls and always spoke. Meeting her in person, she was as wonderful as she sounded on the phone.
"It sure is, but you three are just as lovely as my sons described. They had girlfriends in high school and college, but this.... How they are with the three of you, I've never witnessed it before. My boys can be a bit much at times with their protective streak, but overall they're great guys."
"Oh we know about the protective or should I say, overprotective streak you speak of," I joked.
The four of us shared a laugh.
"You've raised three amazing men, Ms. Abby," Ruby added.
She smiled. She then pulled out a bottle of wine and poured us each a glass. That night, I laid against Andrew's chest. The guys had given us a tour of the home and it was extremely spacious. Their mothers room was on the main floor, leaving the second level to the boys. Since they moved, she had did some redesigning on their rooms. Not that any of them cared. They said it was her house, her discretion to do what she wanted with her space.
"I can't believe you're here," Andrew said, breaking the silence.
I nestled my body closer to his. He tilted my head up, giving me a kiss.
"I just can't get enough of you."
"Neither can I."
"I can't believe you drove here."
I giggled.
"Not my first road trip, babe."
"Yeah, but still. You drive over 3 hours to get here."
"I drove half. Harper has been wanting to drive my Jeep. She's deciding on a car. She's over the one she has now."
It was his turn to laugh.
"For you three to be so girly, you sure are rough around the edges."
I went to elbow him, but that only made him laugh more.
"I'm just joking, baby."
"Mm hmm."
He didn't say anything as he turned me to my side, pulling my back to his front.
"Thank you for coming, darling. You really made my day," he said, planting a kiss on the side of my neck.
I didn't say anything as he wrapped me tighter in his arms. The weekend was pure bliss. I enjoyed hanging out with Drew's mom, his brothers, and my cousins. We had a family dinner each night. I planned out Drew's surprise birthday dinner since he's a Christmas baby. Ms. Abby said he's not one to make a fuss over himself, which is fine. I'll do it for him.
