The careless general

Finally feeling it

Layla woke up to Evelyn calling her name "Layla, wake up, come on" she smiled when she finally opend her eyes, looking tired at her. "What?" Layla said, with a really tired voice. "You missed breakfest, again" she said sounding worried, then she noticed "Wait, you didnt change before going to bed?" Layla looked down on her body. She had been so tired that she forgot to change last night. "I guess i was just to tired to change" she tried to hide what really happend, Evelyn didnt fall for it "Tell me when your ready" she said, still worried, but walked out of the room.

Layla got up from bed, and decided to change clothes. She opend her closet, with all the orphan clothing, Layla signed, and took the only dress she had to choose from, and put it on. She was now wearing a white underdress, and a light brown over that, but the brown ones sleeves were smaller then the white, so you could see the white underdress. 

She now walked out of the room, down the stairs, and straight outside, to find Jackie and Evelyn. "Look who got out of bed" Jackie said jokingly, she just smiled, and walked over to the both of them. Evelyn then said "Layla, will you please just tell us?" Layla looked at her, sighed, and sat down on the grass, they both did the same. "I was at the libary, last night" Layla started, Jackie and Evelyn looked at eachother then back at her, telling her to keep going "I was looking for a map, around the orphanage" she continued, "You found something else, didnt you?" Jackie asked, Layla nodded "i did find the map i wanted, but yes something else too" "What did you find?" Evelyn asked, she looked down, then said "A letter from my mother" she looked back up. Jackie knowing that it wasent something happy, hugged Layla to comfort her, Evelyn joining the hug. 

"Im gonna get out of this hell hole" Layla suddenly said, Jackie and Evelyn let go of her and just looked at her, kinda not surprised, Jackie then said "Not without me" "Or me" Evelyn said. Layla smiled and hugged them both. 

Evelyn now wanting to know more asked "Do you know how and when we leave?" "Very soon, and i have a plan, i will tell you guys on the day, dont want anyone knowing it" Layla answerd, they both nodded. Layla now got up and helped both of them up on their feet, she then started running around the garden, with Evelyn and Jackie by her side.

After they had been running a long time, and layed in the grass watching clouds, it was time for lunch. When Layla walked in the eating hall, she was met by Nicole giving her death stares. She didnt want any trouble today, so she just walked to grab food, and left the room right away, Jackie and Evelyn doing the same, to surpport her.

After a while, people were leaving the eating hall, Nicole now seeing the 3 of them laughing. She smiled behind her, to her 'friend' group, she then walked staright outside wanting to get Layla in trouble. 

Layla noticing Nicole coming over with her minions behind her, stood up. Nicole smirked, looking at Layla "What do you want?" Layla asked, just wanting it to be over. "Just wanted to read something out loud"

She then took out a peice of papir, and started reading "Dear Layla" she stopped for a while looking at Layla, and then continued "I dont know if you will ever see me again" Layla now noticed what she was reading, and looked down, trying to ignore it, Nicole noticed and just smiled "But just know that i love you" She now started to skip a few lines. "Im sure you will grow up to be someone very importent" She was now stopped by one of the people standing behind her "This isent right, its her private life!" A girl said, Nicole answerd "And? who cares, besides who cares about her anyway?" Jackie and Evelyn spoke up "I do" they both said. Now people from behind Layla stepped behind Layla, telling that they stand by Layla's side. "Oh come on, she is nothing, and will always stay nothing!" she said angry

Now a boy steped in front of her "Atleast she is better then you, and who knows what she will be, diffently something better then you" he said, and also stepped behind Layla. She now spoke "Looks like you are being stabed in the back, because of you being mean and rude, even to the people around you" Nicole looked very angry, but also a felling of gulit could be seen. 

Nicole looked at the people behind Layla, and then at her. She then just turned and walked of with anger.

Layla now turned to the people who stood behind her and said "you guys really didnt have to" the guy from before now spoke "We did, she has never been good to anyone, we should have turned on her long ago" the others nodded in agreement. Layla thought for a bit, then looking at Jackie and Evelyn, who both knew what she wanted to do now.

"Want to get out of here?" she asked, "yeah" "yes" and nods were being said and seen. "But how?" someone asked, Layla smirked and said "Just met me at the hallway just up the stairs, with everything you need, i recommed putting it in a bagpack" she continued "We are leaving tonight" They all looked happy, and were starting to head to their rooms when they heard "Oh and please bring your bedclothes with you" seeing nods, she smiled.

She now got hugged from to sides, she hugged back "Were leaving for good" she said. Jackie now looked at Layla and Evelyn "Lets get some good rest, and get ready for tonight" Evelyn nodded, dragging Layla to the room.

They both started packing. Layla packed so that she could keep warm, she had been planing this for a while, so she had some matches, knives and extra warm clothing, and ofcourse the map. Evelyn looked at the watch then at Layla "Dinner time, we should take extra food with us" Layla looked at her "We will, but they will notice here at dinner, we have to wait till after" Evelyn nodded, and they both walked down to the eating hall. 

As they walked in Layla looked around and everytime she saw one of the escape group, she winked at them. When she got her food, and sat down, she started eating slowly. While people left she was still eating, she now finish, when nearly everyone was gone. She then walked to her room, to lay down and rest, they had a long night ahead of them. 

Layla woke up at around midnight, getting out of bed, and started to wake up everyone who joined in. They all took their bedclothing off, took their bag and left the room. Now meeting the rest in the hall. Layla now whisperd "we are going in the kitchen to grab food, please do bring your bag with you" she now pointed at 3 people and said "you 3 stay here, and start making a long rope of the bedclothing, we will take your bag and fill it with food " the 3 nodded and handed their bags. Now the rest left to get food.

They got to the kitchen, and quietly grabing all the food they could, they were smart and putted most of the food in plasticbags. When they had filled their bags, they walked back up to the hall way. The group of 3 had just finished tieing the last bedclothing together, now having a long rope. Layla walked over to a window and opend it, tieing one end to the stairralling, the rest was thrown out of the window. 

"now carefully, climb down, one at the time, and help the rest to get down, so who goes first?" she asked still whispering. Jackie walked to the window, and started to climb down, when he was down the next person went, and so on. Now Layla was the only one left up, she walked over to the stairralling and untied the bedclothes. She threw the bedclothes out the window.

Jackie and calling "Layla?" he was whispering, but Layla could hear him. She now climbed on the window, grabing a tree branch, feeling like she stood safe, closed the window as good as possible. Then climbing down the tree.

"Lets go" she whispers a bit louder. She started running, everyone following her. After they were far out, she started to walk, but not stopping, she knew when to stop. People were starting to get tired, then Layla said "Come on guys, we have come so far, dont give up, we are soon where we need to be" they all looked more confident, and walked a little faster. 

Finally after walking a while, thought a forest, they were at the foot of mountians. Layla looked around, finding what she needs. She gave a sign for them to follow her, and she lead them to a cave "We can rest here" she said putting her bag down. Someone now asked "Can we make a fire, to keep warm?" Layla shaked her head "we cant, they will see the smoke in the morning, sleep close to eachother" people nodded, and started to lay down, and sleep.

Layla took a second, and walked to the entrance of the cave, enjoying the wind, there it was, the feeling. She smiled, then turned and walked to Jackie and Evelyn. Laying down next to them, to keep warm, then they all fell asleep.
