The careless general

1 year later

Layla was looking at the beatiful nature, seeing green grass, a blue lake where a forest was behind it. Birds were singing the morning in, and she could feel the wind in her hair. Layla stood on her balcony, which wasent the biggest one, but it was big enough. Layla stood there as she thought back to the past year. 

She remembers when she was training with her new men, all not doing bad from the start, but after a month they were already much better, and of course the training didnt stop after a month. She remembers as she ran around a forest in front of a smaller group of men, making sharp turns, and people falling over because of that, but after a while they followed along. During trainings they all got to bond, all having quite fun, they all seemed to like Layla, and her leadership. 

About 2 months into training, they had their first mission. Layla remembers the day a solider came running towards her, saying the town was being attacked, and that they needed the group. Layla immediately called out the order to grab weapons, and head to the town fast. Layla herself grabbed her sword, then her bow and a quiver putting them at her back while running. When she got close, she had already pulled her bow out, and was ready to shot arrows at the threat. 

She even yelled out "Groups of 10, more if needed" The men split in their groups and went around the town to help out. Layla ran a bit then jumping on a rooftop, while shooting an enemy slashing at a civilian, the enemy fell to the ground, while the civilian looked up in shock, but no one was there. Layla kept shooting from the roofs, giving orders to her men if needed. The enemy retreated after a while, sense they saw a quite talented archer, which they tried to kill by getting people on the roof, but she just took out her sword and killed them insted, showing she was also a good swordsman. As well were her men, killing the enemy quite easily. 

As they retreated, the whole town had gathered to watch them fight, and cheered seeing them retreat, and honoring their heros. When the king and queen were clapping, and Layla as their captian, was thanked by them, and even ate dinner with them. 

Of course they then got more missions, which all went the same way, the enemy retreating and the crowed goes wild. Layla was starting to get used to this life, when she realised Athena hasnt been around, wondering what she was up to, she kept looking in the sky, hoping to see her, but no luck each time. But she didnt let that stop her from traning her men, and having fun with them all, but especially the group of 10 that were also training with the men, and were aprat of the little army. 

Layla, Jackie and Evelyn kept growing closer, they were a great trio, everyone thought so to. Layla remembered this one night sitting in her friends room, having fun when someone for fun said that Jackie, Evelyn and Layla were a love trio. Layla blushed that night, seeing the other 2 looking down to hide their face, she smiled. 

This past year has been great, Layla has gotten quite famous and not just in town, but also in other kingdoms, as she has been on missions outside of the kingdom. She has formed a great big group, where she could be confident that they would protect eachother if they needed to.

She now thought to herself "Am i falling in love with Jackie and Evelyn? no no, i cant, they wont like me back, there is no way... but... wait no buts..."  

"What are you thinking about?" she was interrupted by a voice coming from behind her, she snapped back to reality and turned around, being surprised to see who it was "And where have you been?" she asked, "I asked you something first" the person said, Layla just looked at them, knowing they havnt changed one bit the past year. She just shoke her head and hugged her mentor, who was now hugging her back "Im so proud of you, you are practically famous" Athena said with a smile. "And that without you" Layla giggeled. Athena smiled at her, then let her go from the hug, now looking serious "I believe something big is coming up, you might be in trouble soon" Layla looked at her smiling at her "Your worried about me?" obviously not taking it seriously. "Your taking this to lightly, take this warning serious" with that Athena disappeared in the sky and was gone again. 

Right at Layla turned back to look at the beautifull nature, there was a knock on her door. "Come in" She said, not even borthering to turn around, as a soldier walked in "Captian Layla, a message from the king" As the last word was spoken she turned around, and nodded for the soldier to give the message. "You and your men are going on a mission to block an attack on our kingdom, which is on around 1000 men, which is just the small attack, but they wont see it coming, which is why you have to set camp outside of the kingdom and defeat them there." Layla nodded and the soldier left the room again closing the door behind him. 

Layla now looked outside again thinking "Athena might be right"
