JUSTIN

My conversation with Dad didn't go well at all. I guess you could say that my conversation with Erin after that, went even worse.

Dad tried to tell me it's none of my business, in which I replied "it clearly is my fucking business when my little brother and sister are heartbroken and my dad is very obviously drunk at fucking ten am!"

"Just stay out of it Justin, it's none of your concern." He'd slurred.

"Fuck Dad, why didn't you say anything?"

"You had your own shit going on with Jen, fucking cops and all sorts."

"What?! How fucking long has this been going on for?!" I'd asked through clenched teeth.

"Jaxo told me he saw her kissing that stupid fucking bitch a few weeks back. I asked her, she admitted it, we tried to work it out and in the end she left. Two weeks ago."

"Two fucking weeks ago?! And you didn't for once think that the kids would be better here while all that shit was going down?" I knew I was getting beyond angry. I knew that at any moment Jen would probably come upstairs and tell me off for yelling so loud around the kids.

"You're a fucking child yourself Justin, what would you do?!"

"Oh I'm a fucking child now am I?!"

"You're my son Justin, you'll always be my little boy. Too young to care for your little brother and sister who are not your responsibility." He'd sighed, lowering his voice a little. "I'm not as bad as I seem Justin. I've been okay actually. Just, the boys wanted to take me away from it all for the weekend. We haven't slept yet, that's why I sound like shit. I can't fix it though Justin, so what would you like me to do?"

"Reach out sometimes Dad! Ask for some fucking help." I'd sighed. "So what happens now?"

"I'm going for full custody."

"Wow. Okay." I had nodded to myself, having a fair idea of how hard it is to get custody rights over the mother. "That's big Dad."

"I know. My lawyer tells me I won't get full custody, but I'd like to. I hope to at least get fifty-fifty. I know I wasn't around for you Justin..."

"I'm not talking about this right now Dad, you're drunk."

"Justin..."

"I said no Dad. I turned out fine and I love you. I just want...well, I want better for Jazzy and Jaxo."

"I know bud, and I want that too...I just-" Muffled voices in the background interrupted before he continued, "I have to go. We're going to play a few rounds of golf. I love you little man. I'll be there tomorrow arvo to grab the kids. Tell them I love them."

"They already know that."

"I know, I just...Bye little man, I love you."

"Love you too Dad. Bye."

I had sat on the bed for the next three or four minutes, spinning my phone in my hand, typing and retyping texts and pacing the room. Fuck the texts. I rang instead.

"Hello?"

"You think that fucking around behind his back is okay?! You think it's fucking okay for a four year old boy to know the type of shit you've been doing?"

"Hi Justin."

"Do you fucking know what you've done to these kids?!" I was fucking furious. I've never been a massive fan of her and maybe this was why, as well as many other reasons.
