Melody's Perspective
Ever since I was a little girl I was told there would be great things coming my way. My dad George Sentra was a spy before he passed away from a shooting when I was five. My mom mourned over his death and then hung herself, probably not understanding that she had me to take care of. Only thinking of herself as I Melody Sentra found her hanging body in her bedroom.
My uncle Jerry and his wife Katie took me in. Jerry is also a spy. My father and him worked in the same company and went to the same academy. They always told me they were working for the government, but I knew better. They work under the tunnels, figuratively speaking, and all they care about is getting money. They don't understand the risk they put in other peoples lives including their own.
I'm eighteen now. Long blonde hair and green eyes with a slight build and what am I put up to? In order to save my families name and keep my younger cousins safe, I have to be a part of the spy group my dad worked for. I know the risks but I won't let anything stop me.
My mission: hide the diamonds.
My life: Not present.
So why was I here at this warehouse? Well I couldn't hide the diamonds if I had to get them first. On this mission I was alone. Jerry forced me too. He claimed he had better things to do, so he would rather risk my life apparently.
The warehouse was run down so no one had stepped in it for years, except the crooks that ran the place under cover. They left the occasionaly windows broken in and left the spiders to web their webs. They owned the place so no one could exactly tear it down. They were called The Bloods. They weren't so much crooks who owned a nice place as much as they were a gang. The Bloods had guns and I mean a lot of them and they didn't expect anyone to know they were here. No one does, except my family who are a gang themselves I've learned in the past. No name. We were just known as The Sentras.
So here I was, in the middle of the night in a black leather suit with black boots, trying to wedge my way through the air vents. My hand held gun dug into my side, but I ignored the pain as I turned corners my flashlight on dim. My heart raced and my hands were sweating like crazy, probably for the fact that I was highly claustrophobic and my biggest fear at this moment was getting stuck in the tight vent, not the fact that I could get killed in the next ten minutes.
Finally I found light from the slits of the air vent and I heard some voices. The voices of The Bloods. I clicked off my flashlight and then looked through the slits and saw the main guy Ethan and his friend Nicholas. Ethan wasn't at all scary so you wouldn't exactly run away from him if you saw him on the street. He had soft brown hair and blue eyes. His nose was a little to big for his face, but I'm not going to get into that.
Ethan was holding a box. The box I was sure, the one with all the diamonds. He was clearly angry with Nicholas by the large vein that was popping through his forehead.
"I told you to hide the diamonds a week ago!" Ethan yelled, his fingers clenching against the box. "So why is it still in my office?"
For being in such a dirty warehouse, his office was pretty neat I guess you could say. He had a nice marble desk with a leather chair and his office was painted maroon. What threw it of was the crushed beer cans and bottles scattered across the floor. Gross if you ask me.
"I haven't found a good place for it yet," Nicholas said in a small voice, his head pointed down. You could definitely tell who wore the pants in this gang. I could tell Ethan fought the urge not to punch this guy in the face by the way his hand clenched at his side. I wished they would leave the room, leave the box so I could take it but I knew it wouldn't be that easy. I hoped it wouldn't be long.
"Really?" Ethan asked, his eyebrows raised, "I could have found so many good places in a blink of an eye. Are you sure it's not because of that slut you picked up on the street?"
"No! But if you think you can do it then you do it!" Nicholas finally yelled back. Then flinching when he realized what he had just done. These guys were absolutely ridiculous. Especially with their Manchester accents trying to act tough.
Ethan shoved a phone into Nicholas's chest and said, "Fix this!"
Nicholas nodded his head and left the office without so much as a word. Ethan locked his door then slide his arm across his desk in rage scattering everything and making a total mess. I had to admit that the noise made me flinch just a little.
Angrily Ethan picked up a chordless phone (who has those now a days?) and dialed a number. If I could have caught the numbers I would have. Never know it could of come in handy later on. Someone must have picked up, "Do you have any leads?"
He was silent as someone answered, "Good. I don't know where these people came in but they are following us for some reason. These boys won't be able to hide behind their little band forever."
Silence then Ethan said bye and hung up. Boys? Band? Huh? I didn't have time to ponder over what this could all mean when Ethan left his office, not forgetting to lock it on his way out. But of course it couldn't keep me out. And he left the box! I did a little victory dance as I started to unscrew the screws in the air vent and popped it out. I grabbed it before it fell and make a big noise and placed it in the air vent beside me.
I slide out feet first and held onto the ledge to stop swinging before I found a good place to jump. I bent my knees and was able to make a soundless landing. I went towards the door and pressed my ear against it, listening for any voices that could be close and heard me. It was clear thankfully.
I hurried and went to Ethan's desk and grabbed the box, but up close I saw that it was a silver case. I didn't think it was some cardboard box or anything I just didn't know that it would have a lock and key. The key that I didn't exactly have.
Voices. Outside. Not Ethan's but I could for sure hear voices outside his office. I couldn't leave without the key though! I went around Ethan's desk and quickly searched through his drawers. Nothing. Obsentities ran through my head that I would rather not share. There was one drawer left that of course had a lock, but I didn't have time to look.
The lock on the door started to jiggle. I would have to leave the key, but I couldn't leave the diamonds. Not when I was this close and they were about to hide it. I grabbed the chair from behind his desk and put the diamonds in the air vent and jumped in myself. The door was about to open soon.
I quickly and I mean quickly got to work as I put the air vent thing back in it's place and screwed it back together. Then I hurriedly crawled away, not even waiting to listen to what was about to go on it that office.
I didn't need to, however. Alarms quickly went off, signaling that there was a intruder in their premises.
My hand touched my gun. I was ready.
