19th September 2011. 12:48. Washington Street, Brooklyn. NY.
Third Person POV
The Captain's eyes took every new detail of the city cautiously. Even though some of the buildings and streets still looked the same, a lot had changed in the last 66 years.
He felt like an outsider, like he didn't belong here.
Sophia was watching through the window as they entered Brooklyn. It had been a 30 minute drive, all in silence, but Sophia didn't really mind it. At all.
She knew the Captain was still trying to adjust to the new life, so she didn't really say anything unless he asked her. Just as the car turned into the last street, the Captain's eyes opened up a little at the familiar sight.
He used to walk through this street back in the day with his best friend, Bucky Barnes.
Bucky.
The memory of his best friend brought a pain to his chest. He wasn't used to living a life without him. For him, it was like just yesterday he saw Bucky falling off the train.
Memories of the tragic day were starting to flood his mind, but he quickly pushed them down, it was not the time to remember that right now.
As the car came to a stop, the Captain looked through the window. They were in front of a red brick building. He turned only to see a few people posing in the middle of the street with the view of the bridge in the back. He frowned and Sophia took notice of the gesture in the mirror.
She smiled and turned to look at him.
-It's sort of an attraction to come to this street and take pictures in it because of the Bridge view. A lot of tourists from different places come all the way here just for that.- She said and the Captain nodded. -We're here.- She said as she exited the car.
The Captain opened the door and got out. Looking around, the style of the building reminded him of his old place.
-Follow me, Captain.- Sophia said as she went up the stairs of the entrance. -Wait here.- Sophia said to the agent that had gone with them and he nodded.
The Captain followed the woman inside the building. Walking up the stairs, he noticed that the woman must've been in pretty good physical condition, given that they were going to the fourth floor and she hadn't broken a sweat.
Just as they finished the stairs, Sophia guided him all the way through the end of the hallway and then she turned to the left. Turning to look at him, she smiled and then unlocked the door.
He saw the number of his apartment.
Apartment 459B.
-Come in.- As she opened the door, she gestured for the Captain to go in first. He shook his head politely and motioned for her.
Sophia smiled at his manners.
He was a man from the 20th century. He was raised differently, he was a gentleman. Everything he did and said was a lot more polite and gentle in some way. There were only six men Sophia knew that still did that.
Phil, Rhodey, Happy, Tony, the Captain and Michael.
She nodded and walked inside the door, but she stood right beside it. The Captain walked right after as he turned to look at the apartment. It had white walls and a few doors.
Sophia closed the door as she went to the table in the middle of the apartment. A couple of boxes were already placed on top of it. The Captain looked around the place, taking in every detail. The apartment was almost empty. At least decoratively speaking. Just the furniture and two or three paintings here and there.
