3rd October 2012. 07:13. Reykjavik, Iceland.
Third Person POV.
Sophia ran down the streets of downtown Reykjavik. In her headphones, Rumour Has It by Adele was playing loud, making her steps fall into rhythm with the music. Just as she turned the street, she stopped on her tracks.
Turning back to where she came from, she turned to look at her surroundings. Someone was watching her, she could feel it. It was a feeling that ran down her spine and extended over her chest, making the hairs on her neck stand. But as her eyes trailed from building to building, street to street, roof to roof, no one was there.
She turned back cautiously and decided to finish her morning run. Checking her watch, she saw she had already done 10 kilometers. 45 minutes. Breathing through her nose trying to steady her breath, she realized her throat was dry from all the running and since she has had no food or bite of anything this morning, she doesn't want to pass out.
Across the street, a small supermarket already had its doors opened, so without any more time to waste and to avoid falling unconscious in the middle of the street, she trotted the boulevard.
Once inside the store, she went straight to the juices section, trying to find one of the usual ones she always had. She opened the door and grabbed a pomegranate and cranberry juice and just as she closed the door and was turning to leave, she bumped into someone.
-Oh, I'm so sorry– She said before laying eyes on the person beside her.
There was that crooked smile that had been hunting her dreams since she met him over almost a month ago. His green eyes were piercing and sent another cold shiver down her spine.
-Ah, Miss Dumont, do not worry, pardon me, I should've seen where I was going.- Zivko Dordevic or now Brajovic, said as he placed a hand on her arm. She tensed at the contact and tried with all her strength to not flinch and move away.
-Mister Brajovic, it's fine.- Sophia said as she tried to muster a smile. The man smiled back, making her shift from one foot to another uncomfortably. -Well, it was nice to see you, but I have to get going. Have a good day.- Sophia said as she started to walk past him, but before she could leave, Dordevic held her arm.
-Miss Dumont.- He said and she stopped. Turning down, she looked to his hand on her arm and then at him. Her eyes were hard and cold, menacing and pushing him to remove his hand. -I wanted to apologize for what happened that night at the Convention. It was rude of me to bring such awful topics to make conversation.- He said and for almost a millisecond, Sophia almost believed him, but she could see it in his eyes, she could see the lie and behind those regret and sorry words, there was nothing to be sorry about.
Sophia looked at him and slowly, trying not to be too impolite, she moved her arm away from him gently.
-Thank you for your apology, Mr. Brajovic.- Sophia said with her voice a little cocky. The man had expected Sophia to tell him not to worry about it, but now he saw the cockiness of the woman, he saw the audacity and the edginess, he saw the sassiness and the sarcasm. She was something very different to what he had expected, she was definitely acquainted with Tony Stark. -Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back.- Sophia said, trying to move past the man again, but he stood in front of her, letting out a small laugh.
-Please Miss Dumont, as an apology, accept my invitation to the Ball I have organized for the members of the convention. I am to be hosting it at my hotel ballroom on the 27th, also as a Halloween celebration .- Dordevic said with a smile and before Sophia could even decline the offer, he spoke again.- Your uncle is invited as well, so he can see that my intentions to make business with you are honest.- Sophia knew this man was anything far from honest.
