18th September 2011. 09:23. Manhattan, New York City. NY.
Third Person POV.
People were coming in and out of the room, carrying tools, machines, furniture from one place to the other.
Tony stood in front of his window, watching from there how the loaders were putting some of his machines into a truck, Happy was supervising everything from downstairs.
He had a new project in mind since the beginning of the year and he started working on it as soon as he could. Now, the project was halfway done and he was more than happy to do it.The only thing he would've wanted, was that his favourite person in the entire world was there to share it with him.
Taking a deep breath, he turned to his watch. It was still too early in the morning for his body and mind to properly work, so he came to the conclusion he needed a boost.
Coffee.
Just as he started walking towards his bathroom to throw some water in his face, something made him stop.
-Some mess you have down there.- The voice said. -Last time I was here it was way more clean.- At the sound of the voice, Tony turned around so fast he almost gave himself whiplash. -Hey, T.-
There, on the door, was his sister standing, with a huge smile on her face as she saw her brother for the first time in 9 months. The longest and most tedious 9 months someone could ever go through.Despite the fact that they had been in touch as much as they could, it was not the same. They missed each other's company and jokes. They just missed being around each other.
Sophia smiled widely at her brother's astonished expression. Tony's body suddenly filled with joy, but he didn't move, thinking it was just an illusion of some sorts. After a few more seconds of shock, his body finally reacted and moved towards her.
In a quick movement, he wrapped his arms around her, lifting her from the ground and spinning her in the air.
Oh, did he miss her.
-My Star.- Tony said. He almost felt like crying, but he composed quickly as he pulled away to look at his sister. -Good thing you're home. I can switch my overprotective brother button back on.- Tony said and Sophia smiled.
She had missed this man more than words could ever express.
-You missed me?.- She asked as they pulled apart.
Tony huffed and then grimaced a little.
-Maybe, but just a little. Don't get too excited.- He said and Sophia laughed.
Tony looked at his sister and he instantly knew something was going on. He could read her like an open book and Sophia knew it. He saw her eyes, they were tired, but somehow they had managed to recover a tiny bit of the spark she had lost almost a year ago.
Thinking back to what she left to do all those months, Tony knew Sophia had started carrying an emotional baggage, bigger than anything she had ever carried before. He knew she would want to talk about this, and he knew it was not going to be easy, at all.
It was going to be all the opposite.
But he was ready. To listen to her, to be there for her.
He hugged her again and she wrapped her arms around his torso, tightly. She needed to talk to someone.Probably the safest and most logical thing was to talk to her therapist about the last 9 months of her life, but truth is, she rather start by telling everything to the person she knew she could tell anything.
