February 2012. 12:09. Washington Street, Brooklyn. NY.

Sophia's POV.

I knocked on the door three times and tapped my foot on the floor while I waited for my friend to open. I heard the sound of footsteps approaching and then after the sound of locks being unlocked, a smiley Steve opened the door.

-Took you long enough.- I said as he moved to the side to let me step inside.

-You're exaggerating.- He said back and I shrugged.

-I always am, aren't I?.- I said and he laughed, closing the door. I looked around and saw his jacket already on the couch, ready for him to grab. -So, you ready?.- I asked and he nodded.

-Yeah, let me just check I locked everything.- He said as he walked towards his bedroom and then to the kitchen. After verifying every door and windows were closed and secured, he grabbed his jacket and placed it on.

February was still a cold month here in New York. Snow was still covering the streets and the temperature was still low. My favourite time of the year.

As Steve grabbed his keys and jacket I got ahead and opened the door. After he was ready, he stepped out and after closing the door, we made our way back to my car. Steve got into the passenger side and I on the driver's side.

I saw him buckle his belt and turn to look out of the window.

-What? You don't trust my driving skills?.- I asked as I saw him look out the window one more time.

-Oh, I do. I just don't trust other people in the street.- He said with a smirk and I nodded.

After I came back from my trip to Russia and after dealing with my emotional baggage for a few weeks (not that it was gone completely but at least it was not eating me alive everyday) I had spent a little bit more time with Steve.

Last week he said he wanted to get a vehicle because he felt like it would be more comfortable for him (and me) if he got his own means of transportation, claiming he didn't like to be a nuisance for me, which was stupid, because he was not. But he was as stubborn as a mule, so I couldn't really argue with him.

Right now, we were heading to see what sort of vehicle he would be more comfortable with. I knew where and what would pick his interest, because I remembered something my dad and uncle Howard did for him, and I plan on doing the same thing for him.

It would've been better as a gift, but I knew he would've declined it, so it's better if it is a gift, right?

After arriving at the few places we had been checking the whole morning, Steve found a couple of vehicles he was interested in, until he finally settled for one, but guess what? He didn't buy straight away. Mostly because I may or may have not asked him to.

Why, you may ask? Well, I remember my father told me he and uncle Howard back in the day re-designed the Captain's bike, and while I was not going to add weapons or gadgets to it, I wanted to make it as similar as possible as the one he had, so after agreeing on coming to buy it later, I stayed back asking "insurance policies", when in reality, I was just asking the seller to help me with the surprise.

Since I couldn't really take the bike home, I was going to go to the store and work on it, so when Steve went to pick it, it would be an actual surprise.

Maybe I shouldn't be messing with this, but if that gives him and makes him miss home a little less, then I'll do it.

-So, you think I made a good choice?.- Steve asks while we drive back to his place.
