Chapter 48

3rd person POV

He stepped inside the room as the other man left closing the door behind him.

"So we meet again, Yeri," he said. "Forgive me, I wasn't able to fully greet you before. I was in a hurry."

He looked at Yeri from head to toe. Her hair was a mess but the rest of her looked worse. Her lip was bleeding on one side; so was her nose. There were bruises on her neck too which would begin to darken soon. Her body didn't look too good either but she wasn't bleeding anywhere and she looked like she could take much more than those punches.

"You look well," he said.

"Cut the bullshit and do whatever you're here to do."

He laughed.

"Oh Yeri, you have certainly taken your father's personality."

"His and yours. It runs in the family really," she replied.

"You amuse me, Yeri."

She rolled her eyes.

"What do you want with me?"

"Not much really, Yeri. I just have to take back what's rightfully mine," he replied.

"And what exactly do you think is 'rightfully yours'?"

He took a deep breath.

"A lot, Yeri. A whole lot. Everything that your father owned and everything that your boyfriend does."

"You're fucking insane," she said, "nothing my father owned belongs to you and nothing of Jungkook's belongs to you either. It is all theirs. Unlike you. Who only steals from others."

As soon as she had finished her sentence she received a slap. A very hard one. The side of her cheek stung badly but she ignored it.

"Ironic how the person who took it all from me, his daughter is defending him and calling me a thief," he said.

"Not trying to be the defensive daughter here but you got it wrong. He never took anything from you. It was his," she said.

"Oh Yeri, how you have been kept in the dark about every single thing your whole life. But then again... that is what is expected of your father after all. He was a liar who kept your life in the shadows of his lies."

A sense of dread settled deep into Yeri.

"You call him a liar. You're the same too," she retorted.

He hummed but his expression was the least bothered as usual.

"But am I, Yeri? Are you sure your father has told you everything? Yeri, your father is a well known mafia. In his peak era, he ran this thing before Jeon took over. How do you expect him to not keep you in the dark?"

"I refuse to believe anything you have got to say to me," she said.

"Are you sure you still want to live a lie? Wouldn't, for once, you want to know it all? Know about everything your father did? Do you really want to live a lie all your life? I am giving you a chance at the truth, Yeri. Don't you want to take it?"

Every word of his was said with extreme care and thoughtfulness. He had estimated the situation well and had carefully chosen his options.

"As if I would ever want the so-called truth from you," she said. "You can keep it, I don't want anything."

"Oh Yeri, Yeri, Yeri, how innocent you are. Even after despising your father all your life you still take his side," he said.

"I do not take his side. I just don't want anything from you or the likes of this family."

"But look at you! Even after sticking bullets into your own father, you refuse to see him for the real person he is."

Yeri's eyes widened.

"How do you know that?" she asked before she could stop herself.

He laughed a little.

"I know a lot, Yeri. In fact, I know it all. All that your father did and didn't do."

"You're a liar. A fucking monster just like him. How can I believe a word you say knowing well you are the same as him if not worse."

"I am offering you a chance at the truth, Yeri. Why not take it? You can decide later on if what you hear is right or wrong."

He gave an unfazed shrug.

"Well, it is your choice. Not that I care or anything. But I thought I could enlighten you with the truth before your life possibly ends. I wouldn't want your whole life to be a lie," he said.

"I am your uncle after all."
