Jungkook's POV

I watched in anticipation as Doctor Park did a check-up on Yeri.

She had strictly told me to stay outside but I had insisted to stay with Yeri while she got checked.

Yeri spoke little as she was being examined, answering Doctor Park's questions occasionally. When she was done, Doctor Park told us she'd give us the report in a few minutes and exited.

I made my way towards Yeri. She was looking outside the window but her eyes seemed far away.

I sat next to her and brought her hand into mine.

"Hey," I said.

Her head turned to me.

"Hey," she said.

I rubbed the top of her hand with my thumb and gave it a little squeeze.

"What are you thinking about?" I asked her.

She shook her head.

"Nothing much."

I brought her inside my lap. Her head met my chest and I heard her sigh lightly. Her fingers traced my chest but she said nothing.

When Doctor Park came inside again, Yeri brought out her head from my chest and turned to look at her.

"Since all of your injuries have completely healed and your body has recovered fully, you have been discharged. You can continue your normal activities and there is no more need of any further medication or treatment. Your body is healthy and well rested and I would recommend you to spend a portion of your time outdoors in the fresh here since you have been indoors for a long time. That's it," she said.

Yeri looked at me with a happy smile on her face which didn't fail to warm my heart. I placed my lips on her forehead.

"I'm proud of you," I whispered to her.

"Jungkook, you should go tell Taehyung so you guys can head home. He is in the cafeteria if you didn't know," Doctor Park said.

I nodded and Yeri moved away from my lap so that I could get up and leave.

Yeri's POV

Jungkook gave a hug to Doctor Park on his way out which startled her a lot.

After he was gone she came to sit beside me on the bed.

"I'm happy you are well, Yeri," she said. "I hope Jungkook will protect you from this point on."

"It's not his fault," I said. "He has protected me and cared for me long enough for me to fully trust him. What happened to me was not something he caused."

"Of course not. If anything, he lost half of his existence bearing the pain of you."

"I have seen it and I have felt it."

"Yeri, please don't ever leave him. He can't bear to stay alive without you."

"I won't - ever."

"If he hurts you, it will never be on purpose, Yeri."

"I know."

"He loves you a lot, you know. He may not have confessed it but I have seen him. The way he looks at you- every woman wants a man to look at her with such an intensity of feelings. But Jungkook has surpassed every man. Don't let him go."

I nodded.

"He.... I'll never hurt him, Doctor Park."

"I'm aware," she said with a subtle smile.

"Thank you for not giving up on me all this time. I wouldn't have made it if not for your constant struggle with me. And I'm sorry for causing trouble. I know I scared all of you but I won't ever do it again, I promise," I said with a smile.

And then Doctor Park was hugging me. Tight. Squeezing me into herself.

It was the closest I had come to motherly affection. I felt tears brim my eyes but I blinked them away.

When she pulled back a smile graced her lips. She patted me on the shoulder and then she got up.

"Well Yeri, this is goodbye for now. I'll visit you guys sometime. Till then, stay safe."

I nodded and smiling, she left.

Just then the door opened and Jungkook appeared, along with Taehyung who engulfed me into a hug as soon as he saw me.

"Let's get you home."
