Yeri's POV
I heard it before I saw it.The beep of a machine. No, many machines.
When I opened my eyes, I found myself in an unknown place, under a completely white ceiling. I felt something soft under me. A bed.
My body felt numb and sore, so did my throat.
When I tried to move even a single finger, pain shot throughout my whole body and I cried.
I heard a rush of footsteps and looked to the side to see an unfamiliar face smiling at me. Something told me I should know the woman who stood in front of me, but I couldn't.
"Welcome back, Yeri," she said.
But I replied nothing. I couldn't speak even if I tried to. I panicked a little but she smiled and assured me.
"It's okay, dear, you'll be able to speak in no time. You just haven't used your voice in a while is all," she said.
She exited the white room and I was left alone there. As soon as I was about to question where I was and what I was doing there, the door opened and someone came running inside.
When the face looked at me, tears pooled in the beautiful eyes and a wide smile was found on the lips.
"Doctor Park," I managed to croak.
I sighed in relief when I knew I could speak and hadn't lost my voice.
She nodded with a smile as tears fell out of her eyes. She kissed me all over the face and when she let go, I realized tears had streamed down my face as well.
"Oh God, I am so fucking happy you're back. This is the best day of my life," she said, almost squealing.
"How do you feel?"
"Honestly? I feel like shit," I replied.
She smiled and nodded.
"Yes, I suppose that happens when you've gone for such a long time," she said and began checking my vitals.
"How- how long have I been gone for?" I asked her.
She looked at me sadly.
"Almost a month, Yeri."
My eyes widened. That couldn't be. How had I been gone for a month?
"And what about Jungkook?" I asked her.
At that, she smiled but beneath that happy smile I could see a tense and sad doctor.
"Oh, he's fine. In fact, he's here right now," she said.
"Doctor Park, if possible... could you... could you not let Jungkook know I'm awake?"
Her smile faded and her face became serious.
"I respect your choices, Yeri, but don't do this to him. For the past few weeks he hasn't slept properly, he stopped eating. He even stopped responding to anything. All he did was mourn you. All he did was ask for you. He hasn't gone home in weeks. Taehyung has been forcing him to eat, to sleep, to change. Don't do this to him."
She paused.
"Let him touch you, Yeri. Let him see you. He needs to know that you're awake. I cannot see him hurt anymore. He hasn't been like this ever. I have never seen a ripple of change in his emotions. But with you gone..... it killed him, Yeri. And he blames himself."
She studied me and her face softened.
"End his suffering, Yeri. Please."
Tears filled my eyes. She was right. If I was in his place I'd have ended the entire universe. He had suffered long enough but not anymore.
"Okay," I said softly. "After you're done, tell him I'm here. Tell him I want to see him."
She nodded and gave me a small smile.
When Doctor Park was finally done with the check up and tests, she stood next to me. Cupping my face in her hands she placed a firm kiss on my forehead.
"I'm glad you're back to us, Yeri. I'm glad you made it. I don't know what we'd have done without you. This month has been hell for us. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that, but I am happy you're back."
I reached forward and hugged her even though my body hurt. She returned it and kissed me on the head before letting go.
She walked to the door.
"Jungkook will be here in a minute," she said and left.
I took a deep breath. It was time to face Jungkook.
