It had been a month since Sam had left to go undercover. Nick and the team had been carrying on with their cases on regular basis but he always felt that something was missing. He didn't have someone he could laugh with about the pranks he played at the gym with Boozer, the trainer. He didn't have someone to give the extra coffee he'd bring everyday, usually it would be for Sam. He just missed his friend. Rosa saw this everyday how he would come by in front of her desk where Sam would sit but would notice her absence and leave to go to the copier room. She felt slightly bad for the guy, slightly.
Today, she saw him holding an extra cup of coffee and keep it on Sam's desk like his everyday habit. She was gonna approach him but Terry had called in everybody in the briefing room.
"And with a record five felonies solved in one week, Peralta pulls ahead. Did you guys hear that I solved five felonies in a week?" Jake boasted.
"We heard." Amy said with a bored tone not wanting to deal with his ego boost today. While Rosa remembered how Jake celebrated it with soda fountains hitting the ceiling in the bullpen, last night before shift ended.
"That's the sweet taste of triumph." he said proudly as he licked his fingers probably still tasting like soda.
"You should shower more." Rosa said with a dead panned look.
"Yep" he shamelessly admitted and sat next to her while Terry walked in asking for new case updates.
"I just got a DOA on Bessimer street." Charles said as he pointed at the file in his hand.
"You're the primary, you're in charge. Take Diaz and Peralta." he ordered making Charles happy about it.
"Yes. My fantasy threesome." he inappropriately said making Rosa and Jake look at him weirdly before he corrected himself. "Of cops on a case."
"Not so smooth." Nick muttered to Amy who was seated next to him and she nodded.
"Detectives, our monthly crime statistics are due. I want all paperwork on your closed cases by tomorrow. Scully, you can just write "I didn't close any" on a piece of paper." Captain Holt said as he entered the room.
"You got it." Scully said innocently.
"I already got my paperwork in, Captain." Amy said boastfully expecting some sort of compliments from her mentor but was only met with disappointment when he didn't give her one.
"Then I guess this little reminder isn't for you." Holt said.
"Wow, looks like he hates you even more than me." Jake commented in a whisper which even Nick heard. He knew Peralta liked to make fun of her.
"No, he doesn't. We have a good relationship. We're on the same page." she said back to him but caught Holt's attention.
"Something to share with the rest of us, Santiago?" he asked her.
"No, sir, I wasn't... Peralta was the one that was talking." she snitched.
"God, you must have been the worst fourth grader ever." Jake whispered again to trap her in another round of embarrassment.
"Joke's on you. I skipped fourth grade." Amy said again but got confronted by the Captain again.
"Santiago, anything else?" he said with slight furiousness making Amy feel even more embarrassed.
"No." she said immediately. "No?" he asked again.
"Uh- huh" she quipped nervously.
"Dismissed. Oh and Detective Lee, I would like to have a word with you and Jeffords." Holt said and the others left.
