Sam had been late to work that day due to an appointment with the doctor so she came in to work along side Jake. They were both away their bags when Hitchcock approached to them. "Have a nice weekend, Peralta and Cooper?" he asked.

"Yeah, nothing special. You know, I got a couple-" Jake got interrupted. "You missed Scully's birthday." Hitchcock said. "Oh." Sam said guiltily. "It was kind of a big one. Nobody showed up at the party." Hitchcock added.

"I was visiting my parents' divorce lawyers." Sam excused while Jake remained answerless. "Guys, guys, guys, we missed Scully's birthday, and it was a big one." Jake said once he and Sam went to the break room to meet with the squad.

"I know. I panicked and said I had to go to the vet because my puppy-cat got sick." Amy said. "I said I had to take my mom to get birth control pills." Charles spoke. "That's better than my excuse. I said I had to go to my girls' bat mitzvahs." Terry said embarrassed with his excuse.

"I said I had to take Marilyn to the dog dentist." Nick said. "That was a perfect lie, babe." Sam complimented. "I know, right?" he asked and she nodded. Just then Holt came in to the break room. 

"Squad, we missed Scully's birthday, and it was a big one. I told them I was in Ecuador. I think they bought it." Holt said as he shut the door after him. "We gotta make it up to him." Rosa said considerately. "Let's give him cash. Everyone, put in $20 each." Holt said to all.

"Uh.." Jake wanted to speak up but Holt had it handled. "Yes, I'll cover you." Jake nodded at that and everyone handed the money to Jake who put it into an envelope.

"Hey, Scully..." Jake called out as the squad approached Scully's desk. "Huh?" "We're sorry that we missed your party." Nick said. "Oh, don't worry about it. You all had stuff to do." Scully said understanding. 

"Yes, the capital of Ecuador is Quito." Holt added to make his excuse believable. "Anyway, Happy Birthday from all of us." Sam added with a kind smile. "Thanks, guys. You're the best." Scully said and everyone wished him after as they left for work.

Hitchcock then turned to Scully. "I can't believe it. The fake birthday worked! You're a genius!" he celebrated quietly between him and Scully. "We're both geniuses!" Scully replied as they both clinked their mugs and drank their drinks.

Scully then sputtered out thumbtacks out of his mouth. "Thumbtack mug. That was my thumbtack mug." he said to himself before starting to collect the fallen thumbtacks.

Rosa and Sam were heading a task force meeting together along with the other officers in the precinct. "We're running this task force, so everything goes through us. Got it? Good." Sam said as she was concluding the meeting. 

"Jackson, some ecstasy was found on the F train. Take it to the lab. Find out if it's giggle pig." she added to instructions to the officer who nodded in response. "Scully, Hitchcock, work your C.I.S. Miller, get a new k-9. That dog is an idiot." Rosa instructed. "All right, move out." she added as Jake walked into the briefing room while others left.

"We needed you in the meeting. You're late." Sam pointed out sharply at him. "Hey. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry I'm late. I had to go back to the deli and return my everything bagel. In what world does "everything" not include beef jerky?" he complained.

"All of them." Rosa answered monotonously. "Okay." he said. "Here's what's up. Task force brought in a giggle pig dealer this morning." she started explaining. "Nice." Charles commented.

"Second guy we've brought in that's had one of these keys." Rosa said holding out a rustic key for Jake to see. "Huh." he observed the key. "My best guess, this opens a creepy, old wardrobe/portal to an enchanted land full of talking toads and fairy folk." Jake said jokingly. "Interesting." Charles commented.
