A/N: I know, I know.. took too long to post the chapter. I had many scenarios for this one but I could figure out which one to work on. Furthermore, I was on a vacation. Anyways, more on that later. But this chapter is the official INAUGURATION of our "THE 99 CONTEST".
For those who don't know, can refer to my contest announcement chapter and read through the rules again. Comment as much as you can and I'm excited to see who I get the chance to collaborate with!! Ready set go!↜↝
Jake walked up to Gina's desk where she was sat holding her phone, engrossed in it. "Hey, Gina, you got that file I needed Captain Holt to sign?" he asked. "Uh-huh." she said and handed him the file without straying away from looking at her phone screen.
Jake waved his hand in her face but she still remained unfazed. "Gina hasn't taken her eyes off her phone in two hours. First person to make her look up wins the pot." he said, issuing a challenge with the detectives as they were all gathered in the kitchen.
"We're in." Sam and Nick said, both putting down 20 dollars each onto the table. "I'm in. A bet which improves someone's manners? Double score." Amy said, putting down 40 dollars. "Sorry, guys. I got this in the bag." Charles said putting down 20 dollars. "I used to have to distract her from her phone all the time when we were smooshin' booties." he said confidently to them before walking away, making everyone else groan.
"Hey, girl-" he said before getting interrupted by the heavy stapler being thrown at him by Gina. "Catch you later." Charles grunted before walking away. Next up was Jake, setting a boom speaker onto her desk. "Mid-morning dance party." he announced, playing the music but Gina was dancing whilst looking in her phone.
"She's dancing even better than normal." he said. "Oh, my God, did you hear that George W. Bush died?" Amy asked, going next. "Who dat?" Gina asked, unfazed still looking at her phone screen.
Sam was next, "Oh my God, Gina. I just got news, Beyoncé died." she said faking concern and sadness. "No way.. she just posted selfie." Gina said unfazed, still looking at her phone. Sam huffed out and walked away.
"Hey G, you wanna see pictures of Marilyn in Shakira get up?" Nick asked, walking up to her holding his phone screen with a picture pulled up. "Mhm, text me." Gina said, not looking up her phone. Rosa blew airhorn next to Gina's ears but that scared off Hitchcock and Scully instead. The woman was still scrolling on her phone.
"Gina may never look at another real human being again. She's unbeatable." Jake ruled out finally as they detectives were back to the kitchen table. "Oh, I don't know about that." Terry said, mischievously before tapping on his phone and awaited a reaction from Gina, which surprisingly only needed a solid second.
"Terrence Jeffords, are you kidding me?!" Gina asked with excitement as she stood up from her desk and looked a Terry. "Changed my relationship status to "it's complicated." Pony up, y'all!" the Sergeant celebrated, having won the pot before his phone started ringing.
"It's my wife. Hey, baby." he spoke on call happily before his expressions turned to those in horror very quickly. "No! No, no, no. It was a mistake. My thumb slipped and... I have to go home." he said before hanging up. He was in deep trouble.

"Ladies and gentlemen, today is the greatest day of my life. Guess who just got murdered!" Jake celebrated as he led the briefing. "That's right, it's Carl Mather." he said and gasped. "What? I'm the only one gasping? Guys, Carl Mather? Did 25 years in Attica..." Jake kept explaining for everyone to recall. Suddenly, Charles gasped.
"Sor-sorry. Just point at me when you want me to gasp." Charles offered. "Will do." Jake agreed. "Mather is part of the Fulton Street Four." he told them. "Oh! They stole $21 million from an armored car depot. Feds caught them but they never found the money." Amy informed all as soon as she remembered the case.
