Sam, Jake and Amy were now in the bar with Brogan as they started with their first round of drinks. "This is the best! Drinking with Jimmy Brogan. So tell me more about Quigg. Could he really light a matchstick on his face?" Jake asked him.
"One time during a drug bust, he had one of his fingers shot off. He didn't even flinch. He just picked it up and used it to flip off every Puerto Rican in the place." the man answered making Amy make a face of disgust. " And that's my cue. It's late" she announced as she got up from her seat.
"Are you kidding? The old guard drank till dawn, ate some coffee grounds, then started the whole day all over again." Brogan said.
"Pfft! I eat coffee grounds." Jake bragged. "Sure you do, pineapples." Sam commented.
"How about another round?" Brogan asked them.
"Are you kidding me? I wanna hang with you till one of us dies." Jake cheered and went on to the bartender to order the drinks. "I can keep drinking forever." Sam said.
"Sure you can, sweetheart." Brogan said with a creepy grin. "Okay.." Sam said with a nervous laugh and followed Peralta along with the old reporter.
"Look, I'm tired of talking. Why don't you tell me some of your stories?" Brogan said.
"Great. 'Cause I got some stories that'll make Training Day look like Super Troopers. Eh, it's not... bartender. Three scotches." he said and the bartender served them three glasses full of the whiskey.
"No, no, he meant two bottles." Brogan corrected thinking Sam wouldn't drink from a bottle because she was a lady. He was served with two bottles of scotch.
"What? I mean... yeah!" Jake said surprised.
"Give me your strongest ever bottle of Vodka, please." Sam said to the bartender who just raised his eyebrows and smirked handling her a huge bottle.
"That's pretty huge. You sure you can handle that, doll face?" Brogan said.
"Yeah and watch me chug it." Sam said and started chugging on it. The entire bar started cheering her on as she gulped through the last drop of bottle and put it back on the counter.
"That's the spirit, you little girl." he said as he patted her back.
"Why don't you tell me about Anne Weket and how she managed to pull up through her ranks and served longest as the Deputy Chief in the PD?" Sam urged him.
"She had quite the stretch, if you know what I mean, that made her stay the longest. Different officers had different opinions but it was my word that meant the conclusion. So she stayed and you can to-" he was about to complete his sentence but was interrupted by Jake. Sam could only think of what the man had meant about his intentions with her.
Just then she saw Nick walk into the bar place along with a girl. Sam raised her eyebrows in shock and betrayal. Her best friend, not only did not tell her about not coming to work but he also brought a date to the bar the same night and not tell her about anything.
"I'm- I'm gonna go home." Sam said as she fumbled with her words catching Jake's attention. "Hey, everything fine?" he asked her slurring in his words. Oh boy, he was so gonna regret this night tomorrow.
"Yeah yeah, um, I forgot I had some stuff left back at home. My neighbor wanted me to watch her dog while she went on a date. God, I completely forgot. Well, you enjoy the night and... don't mess things up for yourself okay?" she told him.
"Wait, you're pulling out of the challenge. So I win?" he asked her.
"Yeah you win. Bye now. Goodnight. Do let me know if you need a ride back home." she said and left him there with Brogan.
