A/N: Skipping 'Payback' and 'Defense Rests' as I'm childish and too eager to start the next arc for my babies. I am so thrilled for this planned plot line like I can't wait much longer to put it out for you guys. Also trying my best to incorporate more of Nick's povs or what goes on with him through the episode cause Sam's had a majority of it between them both and Nick deserves it too. Nick was at his seat when Jake came in holding a box to work. He and Charles saw the look on his face and knew better to cheer up the sad detective. It had been a tough week for Jake. "Whatcha got there?" Charles asked first and started to go through the items of the box.
"A candle, perfume. Bra. Someone's dropping off a care-package for mom." Boyle observed. "Ew." Nick remarked immediately. "Ew. No. It's the stuff that Sophia left at my apartment." Jake responded.
"Oh, bud. Oh, bud." Charles said. "Breakups are the worst." Nick said to comfort Jake a bit. Jake had gotten dumped by Sofia last weekend when he had to bring in her boss for abuse with drugs and Sophia, being the defense attorney for the man, had to step in.
Jake followed his job's requirement and Sophia did the same as a defense lawyer, and that caused the breakup. Sam and Nick had been at Jake's messy apartment on Saturday to check on him and let's just say he was truly a mess. Not even Die Hard movies could cheer him up as it reminded him of Sophia, who also loved Die Hard.
"Man, I just want to walk up to Sophia, slap her in the face and say, "Girl, you messed up."" Charles said with spite for the woman. "You need to destroy that stuff. You want me to crush that big box into a little ball with my bare hands?" Terry offered as he joined in too.
"No. I'm gonna text Sophia and give her her stuff back. That way I'll get to see her again and hopefully smell the air around her hair. That'll make me feel better." Jake explained and was met with refusals.
"No, no, no, no, no." Nick said immediately. "Okay, you need to embrace the pain so you can get through it. You need catharsis." Terry said carefully to explain the man. "Sarge is right. You need to cathart." Boyle said agreeing.
"Cathart your brains out." Terry said. "Cathart all over the place." Nick added in. "That is a great point, guys. Thank you. Even though Nick's never had a real breakup." Jake said. "What do you mean, man? Seeing Sam date William was a big heartbreak for me everyday." Nick explained his defense.
"Yeah, it was miserable to see you mope around everyday." Terry said. "I never moped around." Nick defended. "You did." Jake, Terry and Charles said at once.
"Listen guys, what you're doing is really thankful but, you know who'd appreciate that a lot?Sophia. So, I'm gonna text her." Jake explained, pulling them all back to the topic.
"I'm gonna take that phone now, Jake." Terry said warningly. "I'd like to see you try." Jake challenged and the phone was taken away easily. "Well, you did that very easily." Jake observed and then sighed.
"Look, I understand that you're trying to help, but I promise you, the best thing for me right now is to text Sophia. Give me my phone? Okay. Thank you." he smiled once the phone was handed back to him.
"And... send." Jake said as the 'swoosh' from the text getting sent was heard. "Why hasn't she written back yet?" he asked just 2 seconds later. "Uh, this feels terrible. You three could have stopped this, but you didn't, you monsters." he blamed at the three squad members, while they all looked at him with a knowing expression.

The squad was seated in the briefing room for an emergency meeting as they called it. Sam felt tired and sleepy all morning. She was yawning all day. Charles entered the room. "Hey. Any idea what this emergency meeting is about?" he asked.
