A few hours had passed by in which BASIL had been reading. Being in the hospital was the most boring thing ever for BASIL. When KEL was here, at least he had someone to bother even if KEL did get angry at times.
Stupid nurse...
He looked at the clock, it was now 6 AM. He groans in boredom, all he could do was stare outside or read dumb books. What was he supposed to do? Now he can't bother KEL or even talk to him. All he can do is wait for either AUBREY to call him or HERO to visit. As BASIL was lost in his thoughts, he suddenly heard a knock on the door. He looked up to see a young woman with a friendly smile on her face.
Oh, this is the same nurse who took KEL away. I guess she's the one who's going to take care of me. Just great...
The nurse walks towards BASIL with a bag of mushed food inside. 'It's time for your breakfast.', she says with a smile.
BASIL nods and sits up as the nurse approaches. 'Wait, am I going to eat that? Why can't I just have normal food??', he looks disgusted, the food looked like baby food.
The nurse nods sympathetically. 'I'm sorry, but your stomach is still healing from the injury, so we need to be careful with what you eat. This mushed food is specially designed to provide you with the nutrients you need while also being easy to digest.'
BASIL huffs, eyeing the mushed food.
The nurse sets down the bag of food and begins to prepare the feeding tube. 'Okay, I'm just going to insert the tube now,' she says, gently inserting the tube into BASIL's nose and down his throat.
BASIL's nose felt funny, it was an uncomfortable feeling. He almost felt like he was going to gag.
The nurse notices BASIL's discomfort and quickly adjusts the tube. 'Don't worry, I'm almost done. Just a few more adjustments,' she states, and continues to make small tweaks until the tube is properly inserted and secure.
BASIL's eyes look away as the nurse starts the feeding. He can feel the liquid going down his throat and into his stomach. It was a weird sensation, but he could also feel his stomach growling, indicating that he was hungry.
'Is everything okay?' the nurse asks, noticing BASIL's discomfort.
BASIL nods, it just felt a bit weird to him. He felt kind of embarrassed that he has to get help to eat.
The nurse smiles reassuringly. 'There's nothing to be embarrassed about. It's just a temporary measure until your stomach is fully healed. Just focus on getting better and you'll be back to eating normally soon enough.'
BASIL nods again, feeling a little better. He takes a deep breath and tries to relax, letting the nurse take care of him. As she finishes feeding him, she helps him to clean up and get comfortable again in his bed.
