The sun hung high in the clear blue sky as the trio reached their destination—a serene park surrounded by lush trees and a gentle breeze that rustled the leaves. Families with children played nearby, and the distant sound of laughter filled the air.
BASIL let out an annoyed sigh as he settled onto the picnic blanket. SUNNY had clung to him throughout the entire journey, and it felt unusual for him to receive this much affection. He valued his personal space more than most, and today was no different. However, he didn't want to hurt SUNNY's feelings, so he tried to conceal his irritation as best as he could.
KEL, on the other hand, seemed rather unfazed by the situation. He leaned back comfortably, watching the kids play with a small smile on his face.
SUNNY, ever the social butterfly, couldn't help but inquire, 'So when are HERO and AUBREY coming?'
KEL glanced at his watch and then back at SUNNY. 'Should be any minute now,' he replied, his calm demeanor unwavering. 'They said they'd meet us here around this time.'
As they waited for HERO and AUBREY, SUNNY seemed to get even more clingy. He scooted closer to BASIL on the picnic blanket, their shoulders brushing against each other. His playful teasing continued as he grinned mischievously at BASIL, who was becoming increasingly exasperated.
SUNNY playfully nudged BASIL with his elbow. 'Come on, BASIL, you're too serious sometimes. Just relax and enjoy the day,' he urged, his voice dripping with enthusiasm.
BASIL let out an audible whine, his patience wearing thin. 'KEL,' he pleaded in a low voice, 'can't you do something about this? SUNNY's driving me crazy.'
KEL, still the picture of calm, chuckled softly. 'SUNNY's just excited, BASIL. You know how he gets. It's all in good fun.'
SUNNY, seemingly undeterred by BASIL's complaints, leaned even closer, their faces almost touching. 'BASIL, you're so uptight. Why don't you let loose for once?' he teased, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
BASIL, feeling trapped, groaned in frustration. He cast an imploring look at KEL, silently begging for some relief from SUNNY's relentless clinginess.
Just as he was starting to feel overwhelmed by SUNNY's playful antics, a soft and somewhat timid voice chimed in from behind.
'A...Am I... intruding?', AUBREY asked as she approached the group with her bag in hand.
SUNNY, who had been in the midst of teasing BASIL, turned to look at AUBREY with an expression of unamusement. His mischievous grin faded, replaced by a rather indifferent gaze.
AUBREY, on the other hand, stared back at SUNNY, her cheeks slightly flushed and beads of sweat forming on her forehead due to the unexpected attention. She felt somewhat overwhelmed by SUNNY's unamused gaze and his earlier clinginess towards BASIL.
KEL quickly intervened, breaking the awkward silence. 'AUBREY, you're not intruding at all,' he said with a small smile.
