A/N: I was having a lot of trouble brainstorming on what to do for this chapter, luckily my brain came up with something lol. Enjoy!
HERO's eyes lit up with a mixture of relief and gratitude upon hearing BASIL's words.
He gently finished applying the pain-relieving gel and removed his hand from BASIL's arm. He tore a small piece of clean cloth from a nearby bandage and placed it over the gel to protect it.
'Keep this cloth on for a while to let the gel continue working,' HERO advised, his voice calm.
BASIL nodded, taking note of HERO's instructions. He adjusted the cloth over the gel, ensuring it was securely in place.
'Thanks for this....' BASIL said, his voice softer than before. 'I didn't expect you to be so... genuine.'
HERO's smile widened, touched by BASIL's acknowledgment.
'I've learned that sincerity can make a real difference,' HERO replied, his voice filled with empathy. 'In a world where trust can be hard to find, I believe in the power of authenticity.', He goofily grins.
BASIL watched HERO's smile and couldn't help but feel a slight easing of the tension within him. There was something genuine and warm about HERO's presence, and it was beginning to resonate with him.
'Yeah, well, don't let it go to your head,' BASIL replied, his tone half-serious and half-teasing. He couldn't deny the small flicker of amusement that HERO's goofy grin ignited within him.
HERO chuckled, his eyes sparkling with a mix of playfulness and sincerity. 'I'll try to keep my head from growing too big,' he replied, his voice filled with good-natured humor.
BASIL found himself grinning, a genuine smile tugging at the corners of his lips. It was a small, fleeting moment of lightheartedness that he hadn't experienced in a long time.
He stands up, taking HERO's arm and pulling him, 'C'mon, let's go to the HIDEOUT.'
BASIL's gesture caught HERO by surprise, but he willingly followed his lead, allowing himself to be pulled along.
'HIDE....OUT?', HERO tilts his head in confusion.
BASIL chuckled at HERO's confused expression, realizing he had mentioned the hideout without providing any context. He released his grip on HERO's arm and turned to face him.
'It's...where you and our friends used to go for picnics.', BASIL said with a sheepish smile.
BASIL's words triggered a flood of memories for HERO, the fragments of a past that seemed distant yet somehow familiar. The mention of picnics stirred something within him, a faint recollection of laughter and camaraderie in a place hidden away from the world.
A mix of curiosity and nostalgia washed over HERO, and he eagerly followed BASIL, the anticipation building with each step. As they walked, flashes of images began to resurface in his mind, like fragments of a forgotten puzzle coming together.
