BASIL's eyes shot open, and a gasp escaped his lips as he awoke from his nightmare. His body was drenched in sweat, and he instinctively clutched his chest, feeling his heart pounding erratically. Trembling, he looked down, trying to steady his breathing and shake off the lingering fear from the vivid dream.
His breaths came in ragged bursts as he tried to ground himself in reality, reminding himself that it was just a nightmare. He closed his eyes for a moment, attempting to regain composure and push the haunting images from his mind.
BASIL's heart rate slowly started to return to normal as he took a few deep breaths, focusing on the sound of his own breathing. When he opened his eyes again, he saw SUNNY lying in the bed next to him, staring up at the ceiling. The sight startled him, causing him to gasp softly.
'Shit- when did you come back..', He said, not as a question.
SUNNY turned to look at BASIL, his expression calm and quiet, but there was a subtle hint of melancholy in his eyes. 'I came back a little while ago,' he replied softly. 'I didn't want to disturb you. Are you okay?'
BASIL's confusion mixed with the lingering fear from his nightmare, causing his emotions to surge in an unexpected way. He couldn't understand why SUNNY was acting so differently, and it irked him.
'Okay? No, I'm not okay,' BASIL snapped, his voice sharp and laced with irritation. 'Why are you being so quiet and weird? You're never like this.'
SUNNY's calm demeanor wavered slightly under BASIL's sharp words, but he tried to maintain his composure. 'I'm sorry if I seem different,' he said softly. 'I just thought you might need some space after your nightmare.'
'Well, I don't need you hovering around like some guardian angel,' BASIL retorted, his frustration now fully directed at SUNNY. 'Just go back to being your usual cheerful self and leave me the fuck alone.'
The words came out harsher than BASIL intended, but he couldn't seem to stop himself. It was SUNNY's fault for acting stupid and getting drunk.
SUNNY's expression fell, hurt evident in his eyes. He seemed taken aback by BASIL's uncharacteristic nastiness. 'I was only trying to be there for you,' he said quietly. 'I didn't mean to upset you.'
'Well, you did,' BASIL snapped, unable to contain his bitterness. 'I don't need your help or your pity. Just stay away from me'
SUNNY's shoulders slumped slightly, and he looked down, his expression filled with sadness. 'I'm sorry for trying to be there for you,' he said softly, his voice tinged with hurt. 'I didn't realize my presence was such a bother to you.'
With anger flashing in his eyes, BASIL retorted, 'Be there for me? What the fuck are you talking about?! All you have ever done is RUIN MY LIFE!', his eyes blazed with frustration as he glared, his emotions boiling over from a deep well of hurt and resentment.
