I gasp awake, watching the lid of link recede away from me slowly. Why had I passed out?
Luckily, the emotion once overloading my system had vanished.
But that did not explain why my link had stopped.

When I cough and splutter, trying to catch my breath, I see Jake barely conscious in his link, his wrists getting tied together.
My instincts go haywire. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" I scream, shoving away somebody who was trying to pull my arms towards them.

I haul my body off the link, standing straight just to shove the army man away from me with renewed force. We were out of time.
Unlucky for me, the man in front of me was far stronger than I was. So he barely stumbles when I use all my weight to push him away.
Instead he just reels back and whacks his knuckles across my temple.

Stars dance in my vision as I get stunned. "Belle!" Grace shouts, but I try not to listen as I hold myself up using the link I only just got out of.
Why were they doing this? This made no sense. The man snatches my wrists away, making my weight fall forward and my face hit the plush inside the link and I thank God I hadn't hit the skeleton.
He pins my hands behind my back as I struggle to get up again. When I hear the click of the cuffs around my wrists I huff and writhe more.

"You're crazy!!" I yell again, twisting my neck to spit in the mans face.

Bad decision, but there was no room for anything other than rash decisions at the moment. He blinks a few times when my saliva drips down his cheek.
Just as I think he was going to keep his calm, a disgusted, rage-filled look fills his face and I brace for an awful impact.

Instead of me being put out of my misery, he takes a chunk of my hair and pulls my head back. My body was forced to follow suit unless I lose any hair.
"Dirty thing aren't you?" He whispers in my ear. His breath against my face almost makes me dry heave. But I'd be damned if he saw me acting weak.

He laughs a humourless laugh and drags me behind Jake who was being pushed away behind Quaritch.
What the hell did these freaks want?

****

"Shut the hell up." I mumble to the man whispering in my ear still.

The helicopter ride to Dodge was hell incarnate, so all that meant was I was stuck with some bald man telling me that I'd never see my 'blue boyfriend' again. That riled me up plenty, so I was very tempted to punch him one or two times.
I knew for a fact both me and Eyve would quite literally kill the entire human population before either of us never saw the other again.

Thankfully the man does in fact shut the hell up as we walk into Selfridges homicide base and get shoved to computers.
Grace and Jake had been relieved of their bindings, I, however, had not been. That was probably due to my little outburst after they interrupted my link in progress.
That was their problem though.

"Stay put, eh?" The man says, winking and clicking his tongue at me to go stand with some other army freaks.
If he did that one more time I'd have to give him a live vasectomy.

Grace leant against the table containing a holograph while she watched Selfridge walk over to us. Jake was sat staring up at Quaritch like he would kill him in the next few minutes.
I wouldn't blame him if he did. Hell, I'd help. I was just stood between Jake and Grace, ignoring the throbbing my head and unable to unstick my tongue from the roof of my mouth.
Jake had a line of dry blood down his face from where the general had punched him so hard. I was tempted to clean and bandage it, but that'd be embarrassing for the both of us.

Quaritch presses a button on a screen, and a video of Jake in his avatar starts playing in front of him. Me and Grace both get nosy and look over Jake's shoulder to see.
He was hammering in cameras of dozers to stop them destroying the trees. He looked angry, his teeth bared and nose scrunched up.
His tail was whipping behind him while he continues to smash the cameras in with a stone.
