Madelyn's POV:
After I got my face stitched up, we returned home.
"How are you feeling, are you alright?" Chase asked while putting one of his hands on my back.
I nodded.
"Do you want to take a nap?" He asked.
"No, I'm ok." I responded. The events earlier were surprising and scary, but I didn't want to dwell on those thoughts.
"Take it easy though, ok?" Chase said.
I agreed. Chase, Madison and I hung out for a little while before getting bored.
"We should get fucked up tonight." I proposed.
Madison giggled.
"I'm serious. Bails, we won't see you for another couple of months and we haven't partied together since the wrap party." I said.
"Mads..." Chase began.
"I know what you're about to say, oh Maddie you've had a hard day, you need to relax, blah blah blah." I imitated.
"Yeah, but it's true." Chase said.
"I feel fine though, all that's different is a little bandaid on my forehead." I replied pointing to the bandage.
"She's right Chase." Madison backed me up.
"C'mon, let's have fun tonight." I said.
Chase looked annoyed but Madison and I stared him down with convincing puppy eyes and begging facial expressions. .
"Fine, but I have one request." Chase stated.
"What?" Madison asked.
"Can we just get high instead, I don't feel like getting drunk or being hungover tomorrow." Chase requested.
Madison and I looked at each other for a moment and she shrugged.
"Yeah why not, fuck it." I said.
Madison squealed.
"I literally brought so much weed with me." Madison said while standing up to find her bag.
I laughed. "You brought weed with you on the plane?" I asked.
"Of course. Not in my carry on though, obviously." She chuckled.
I hadn't smoked or been high in a while and I missed the feeling. I missed how calm and relaxed I got and how my thoughts always made so much sense.
That night, the three of us sat on our balcony and smoked.
"Mads, I can't tell if you're high or not because you're always so giggly." Madison said.
"I can't tell either." I replied while laughing.
"Are you ok?" I asked Chase who was quiet. He didn't respond or look at me. "Hey. Chase." I said while snapping my fingers.
"What, oh, hey." He said.
"Are you ok?" I asked again.
"Yeah. Bails, this shit is strong. I'm like zoning out every three seconds." Chase said.
We all laughed. An hour had gone by and we were mostly sitting in silence, but it was nice. There was a warm breeze on the balcony.
I could feel myself slipping into that high mindset where I wanted to have deep conversations.
