Madelyn's POV:

My birthday was in a few days and I could tell that Chase was planning something. He would go out and come back with bags of things even though I always told him not to get me gifts. My mom would be coming to LA soon to celebrate my birthday and to see the babies. My dad couldn't come because of work, but I was excited that my mom could be there to celebrate with us. This would also be one of the first Christmases in a while that I wasn't going to spend with my parents, so it was nice that I would see my mom before the holidays.

I was doing really well. I had gotten into a good routine while Chase was filming. I had met a group of young moms through a baby group that I was now good friends with. It was great to hang with people who understood what I was going through and could relate to. I loved all my friends, but none of them had kids, so it was hard for them to relate to me sometimes. I was going on a lot of walks with James and Juliet and getting out as much as I could before it got too cold.

I couldn't tell how Chase was doing. I had the sense that he was overwhelmed with his filming schedule, but he wouldn't tell me. He would leave early in the mornings and get back around dinner. We usually had mellow quiet nights together before going to bed. He rarely had days off so on the weekends he wanted to sleep a lot. I was slightly worried that he was being overworked, but I knew he hated talking about his emotions and I didn't want to upset him.

I woke up early the next morning. The covers were ruffled next to me and I could tell that Chase was showering. I got up to check on the babies. Juliet was crying quietly so I went downstairs to get a bottle. I wasn't breastfeeding her a lot at the moment because she was teething and kept biting my nipples. James was still fast asleep. I gave him a gentle rub on the back before picking Juliet up and laying her on my lap to feed her. Her eyelashes fluttered over her huge brown eyes.

"Good morning girly. How did you sleep?" I whispered.

She cooed and wiggled in my lap. I gave her a kiss on her forehead when she finished the bottle and brought her to my room. Chase was still in the shower which was unusual. He was known for taking super quick showers. I knocked on the door but heard no answer. With Juliet in my arms, I opened the door which was unlocked.

"Chase?" I asked before I fully opened the door. I heard quiet sobs coming from the shower and my heart immediately dropped. I knew he was acting off but I had no idea that he was this upset.

"Baby?" I asked again. The shower was running and the curtain was drawn so I couldn't see him. I walked over to the shower and peeked inside. Chase was sitting down in the tub with his head in his hands. I gasped quietly, he looked so distraught.

"Hey, Chase, what's going on?" I said quietly and empathetically as I kneeled down and touched his arm. Chase flinched and recoiled as I touched him. He was surprised to see me there.

He couldn't get any words out, or he didn't know what to say to me.

"You're ok." I whispered. "I'm just gonna put her down, I'll be right back, ok?" I said.

I hurried back to the babies room where I set Juliet down in her crib, she fussed.

"Mama will be back soon baby girl." I said as I shut the door.

I ran back to the bathroom. Chase was still crying as I turned off the shower and got a towel.

"Baby, can you stand up?" I asked softly. He nodded and wiped his eyes as he stood up. I wrapped him in the towel and gave him a big hug. He was shaking, wet, and teary. I walked him over to the bed where we both sat down and I continued to dry him off.
