Madelyn's POV:

It had been 2 weeks since Chase proposed. We had our ups and downs, as well as good moments and bad moments. It was a big change, so big feelings were going to come with it. It had also been 2 weeks since I first suggested therapy for Chase. He was getting stressed and freaking out over minor things like his alarm not going off or it raining when the forecast said sun. I knew there was a deeper cause to this, and it was probably the hate he was receiving or his general busyness and stress level. It was starting to affect us though, putting a communication strain in between us. He would get ticked off and annoyed with anything I said that was directed towards him.

After Chase came back from the gym, something he had been using as an outlet for his stress, I decided to talk to him. His mood is usually best after working out, and I didn't want him to get angry or upset with me.

"Hi babe." I said to him as he walked through the door.

"Hey, I'm gonna take a shower." Chase replied without making eye contact.

"Wait, can you actually sit for a second, I want to talk." I said.

He looked confused but slowly made his way over to the couch and sat down.

I paused before beginning the conversation.

"Have you started looking for therapists?" I asked quietly.

He sighed. "This is what you wanted to talk about? Maddie, I told you I wanted to handle this on my own." Chase replied.

"I know, but the longer you wait, the worse it gets. I just want what's best for you, and right now what's best is getting your stress levels and anxiety under control." I responded quickly so he wouldn't cut me off.

"It's not that serious. I'm busy right now, I don't have anxiety, Mads, come on, seriously?" He said as if I accused him of something.

"Chase, it doesn't matter, what would help you right now is speaking to someone. I know it helped me a lot, and I want you to have someone you can go to when you feel that way. All I'm asking is for you to do a consultation." I said.

"No, and stop relating this to you, it's not the same." He snapped back.

"I'm just trying to tell you that it helped me, so I'm sure it can help you too." I said sympathetically.

"Ok well I'm not as fucked up as you are Madelyn!" Chase yelled.

I paused letting the echo of his yell exit the room. I was surprised by his anger and hurt that he described me in that way, but deep down I knew it wasn't the real him saying that. He was emotional and was having a hard time thinking completely before he spoke. I could tell that he was surprised by his own yell as well.

"Ok." I said quietly, acknowledging that this conversation was over. We both needed to cool off before we could finish this conversation civilly.

"Mads, wait-" Chase called.

I ignored him and suddenly realized that my eyes were watering. I guess I wasn't expecting him to call me "fucked up". It was somewhat true but it really hurt to hear him say it.

Chase begged me to stay but I walked out the door. As soon as the door closed behind me, I broke down. After wiping my face, I swiftly ran to my car and drove away. I knew I should've stayed. I should've comforted him and calmed him down, but I couldn't look at him calmly after he said that. I drove to Madison's new apartment which was only 5 minutes away, hoping she was home.
