Chase's POV:

Madelyn was clearly anxious about her doctors appointment today. Because of the minor bleeding, her doctor wanted her to come in once we got back to do an ultrasound. Even though it was probably nothing, Maddie was nervous and assuming the worst. I didn't blame her though because of the miscarriage. She was obviously traumatized and very cautious when it came to this pregnancy. I was relieved that Jonas, our director, gave us another day off of work. We would go back in tomorrow to film more scenes.

It took a while to get Madelyn out of bed. I think it was a combination of the jet lag, pregnancy tiredness, and overall anxiety that made it hard for her to wake up.

"C'mon Mads, we have to go." I whispered.

"I don't want to." She groaned.

"I know, it'll be quick though." I reassured her while moving the hair out of her face.

Madelyn got dressed and joined me in the kitchen. I offered her a smoothie and some toast but she declined.

"Babe, you'll feel much better if you eat something." I said as I handed her the piece of toast.

"I don't want it." She snapped.

"Can you bring it with you and take a few bites?" I asked. It was always risky when Maddie had an empty stomach, especially when she was anxious. I didn't want her to feel sick or throw up.

After some convincing, she agreed and we headed to the doctors office. I placed my hand on her thigh on the drive there to comfort her. Madelyn was quiet and peered out the window until we arrived.

She got called back by a nurse and I accompanied her. Maddie was told that her blood pressure was high again. It was determined that it was "the nerves." She changed into a gown and sat on the exam table.

"When do you want to have that dinner party?" I asked to distract her as we waited for the doctor. We planned on telling the rest of our friends about the pregnancy over dinner soon.

"I don't know. I can't even think about that right now." Maddie said nervously, only able to focus on her anxiety.

I sighed at my failed attempt to take her mind off of things.

"Mads...look at me." I said. She hesitantly turned her head and struggled to keep eye contact with me. "It'll be ok." I reassured her.

Madelyn nodded but it looked like she was going to break down any second. I squeezed her hand.

"Hi Madelyn! Hi Chase!" Dr. Kelly said excitedly after knocking on the door. "Did you guys have a good trip?" She asked.

"Yeah, it was really good!" Maddie said, putting on a brave face.

"Amazing! Well thanks for coming in today. I know you had a bit of a scare last week so I thought we'd check for any inconsistencies in the pregnancy." Dr. Kelly said.

We made some small talk, by we I mean mostly me because Maddie was so overwhelmed and nervous.

"Alright, we're going to do a transvaginal ultrasound today. I'll insert this wand-like instrument into the vagina and we'll have a look around." Dr. Kelly said while holding up the device to show Madelyn.

Maddie began to breathe heavily.

"It shouldn't hurt but you'll feel some minor discomfort. Let me know if it's feeling painful at any point, ok?" The doctor said.
