Madelyn's POV:

I awoke to my phone chiming. When I opened my eyes and turned on my phone, I saw that it was our OBX group chat.

I smiled. I was hoping I'd get this message soon, I missed my job and all of my friends. I turned to Chase who was still asleep.

"Chase, wake up." I said while nudging his shoulder.

He groaned but eventually opened his eyes. I showed him the message and his face lit up.

"Is that for real?" He asked.

I nodded.

"That's great!" Chase exclaimed, his voice still scratchy.

"I know, I'm so excited." I replied.

"Me too." He said.

He kissed me on the cheek before stepping out of bed to take a shower. While Chase was showering, I made us both coffee and toast. It was already 11, and Chase said his appointment was at 12. I planned to meet Madison for a quick lunch just to take my mind off of things. My resized ring was delivered earlier and it fit perfectly. I was so excited to start wearing it in public, considering how beautiful it looked.

Chase and I sipped our coffees together.

"I'm running late, but I'll see you later, ok?" I said before kissing him goodbye.

"Ok, I love you." He said.

"Good luck today, I love you too." I replied.

I met Madison at a sandwich shop nearby. Miraculously, I arrived in the parking lot before her. I'm always late so it felt nice to be first for once. I spotted her car and walked over to give her a hug as she stepped out.

"Hey babe!" She said.

"Hi! Are you excited about season 3?" I asked.

"I'm so pumped! You? How's Chase?" She replied.

"Same! He seemed better this morning, but that'll probably be ruined soon. He has therapy right now." I said.

"I hope it goes well." Madison responded.

"Yeah, I hope so too." I said.

We took our sandwiches to a nearby park and sat on the grass to people watch and enjoy the nice breeze. We sat and talked for a while. It was always nice to catch up with Madison even though I hang out with her often.

"Oh shit." I said while looking at the time on my phone. "It's already 2:30, I should go."

"C'mon, let's walk back to the parking lot." Madison said as she grabbed my hand to help me stand up.

I hugged Madison goodbye and we both got into our cars.

I probably should've come home earlier to see how Chase was doing after his appointment, but I thought maybe he could've used some time to decompress and think. I entered the apartment and saw Chase sitting on the couch watching mindless reality tv. His eyes looked red, so I assumed he had been crying, which wasn't unusual for a first therapy appointment. Sometimes they like to dive right into the trauma.
