Ch. 8 The Lady in Black

Days rolled quicker than I anticipated. Our usual routine of her visiting me at work and me serving her food became a constant.

What happened days ago caused a big turn between us. I didn't want to lead her on but I don't want her to walk away either so I let things play out on its own. She often come around to pick me up at work and spends more extra time whenever we both have spare time.

I can see how people turn their heads in the restaurant whenever Iris comes in. There were occasions where she brings food when I don't have any free time to go out for a while. And free food means it's for everyone, so seeing Iris comes in, my workmate gets ecstatic and would plaster a grin at the sight of her.

This girl, I still can't believe that she's shown interest towards a server like me.

I'd be roaming around the restaurant doing my duties while she reads in her usual spot. There were few glances and nose scrunches every now and then. She's making me get used to her presence making it hard not to look forward for any interaction we can steal at the restau.

After the visit in my condo, we've been busy with our own hustles. She's been attending conference for the past few days consuming most of her time though she's making sure to send me random text whenever she gets a chance and of course, fetch me at work and drives me home.

Things at work has also became crucial because of the sudden changes the manager has been imposing. It's getting out of hand and the employees are starting to suffer. I'm not getting pleased with all the treatment everybody's getting because I know too well that a hard work should be commended and rewarded.

There are few things that needs to get changed from the system but we all know that it would be such an impossible occurrence and no one would dare to stand up for it. Everyone's scared for themselves.

Wednesday rolled out and it was time to prepare for the ball. Iris was supposed to pick me up but I insisted that she can wait for me at the event itself. She's got a lot on her plate lately and I don't wanna stress her with this occasion.

I decided to go on a black dress with see through detailed sleeves which I love the most. I don't wanna embarass her in front of her colleagues so I dolled myself up making sure I will look good beside her for the whole night.

I was just about to get finished when she hit me up. I can tell how anxious she is coz she's been on her feet the whole morning. Shelby helped her choose her whole wardrobe for tonight. The tandem pretty sure went from one boutique to another looking for a perfect fit. I remember her mentioning that a lot of prominent names in the medical industry would be grazing the event which is why they made sure to be at their best.

"I will be at the lobby. I'll be waiting."

I tersely get on my feet and gathered my stuff.

"See u."

I drove to the hotel where the ball will be held at. Driving through the lobby, I can see a massive volume clustered into different crowds.

I handed my keys to the valet attendant and made my way through the paved lobby. Scanning the faces hoping to find the girl with the most gorgeous face, I saw her waving beside Shelby and boy, the girl is so stunning that my words can't do justice.

"You look gorgeous." I whispered as I hugged her hello.

I have met Shelby couple of times whenever they tag along at Love, Nana. Both of them are wearing dark laced dresses with intricate details. Iris was wearing a dress accentuating every curve of her body exposing her sexy shoulders. Her hair tied up neatly while all glammed up. The way she look tonight is giving me a hard time keeping my eyes off of her.
