_____________________________FLASHBACK
People in the village worked together in helping the doctors load their things into their cars together with the tokens of gratitude they have gathered around the community. There were bunch of vegetables that locals grew themselves. It was early in the morning when the group of doctors bid farewell and hit the road.
"Thank you very much for visiting our community. We are truly grateful for the medicines and vitamins you distributed. The services received have been a great help to my colleagues." Amir expressed gratitude on behalf of the people in the community.
"You're very welcome, and thank you as well for warmly welcoming us." Dr. Valdez pat the shoulder of Amir.
Their cars pulled off one by one until they were no where in sight. Amir politely excused himself from Iris and Kim when the two decided to stay behind at the clearing to take a walk.
The moment they were finally alone, the two instantly got lost in their own world like children running and goofing around. They lay down under the tree and enjoyed themselves basking in the sun. The warmth of the morning sun kissed their cold skin as the wind blew, taking all their worries away.
Them finally being together after what seemed like an eternity still felt so surreal. Kim feels like her soul had been freed from getting captive for so long. Her liberty had a name, Iris Mavery.
As they lie down side by side on the green grass on the hill, Kim never felt so peaceful and unbothered like how she's feeling right on that moment. Her world has slowed down and everything looked so vivid, all in a rich hue of colours.
She never expected that meeting Iris once again would unlatch a plethora of adulation that she never knew existed. The young woman brought back the piece of her heart that has gone stray after she left. The fear of holding back thinking something would go wrong next has now dissipated and was replaced with the courage to live in the moment.
"Mavy," Kim called amidst the sanguine silence. "This right here, it feels so nice." The cerulean sky reflected on her eyes .
Iris smiled with warmth and reached for the older woman's hand. "It is. There's the nature, there's the sky, and there's you," Iris responded, capturing the essence of the moment.
Kim sighed peacefully, tightening her grip on the younger woman's hand. "You know, this by far is the most peaceful I have ever been in my entire life."
"Really?" Iris stared at her watching the clouds go by in her eyes.
"Mhm." Kim hummed. "It's kind of foreign, but I can get used to this." Iris felt feverish with Kim's fervent words.
"Bummy." Iris called for the older woman's attention. "What's it like to lose someone?"
Kim surprisingly didn't find the question depressing. It quite felt good to let it out and share how she felt within those moments. It's time to let someone hear her thoughts that she has kept for a very long time.
"It's okay if you're not comfortable answering it." Iris quickly quipped when Kim didn't speak a word.
"It's okay, Mavy. It's a good thing that I can talk to you about this things coz I know it will be essential for us in the long run." Kim uttered like she foresees the two of them ending up together.
