After the conversation they had at her clinic, Iris walked in desolation having Shelby's words on the loop hanging behind her like a cloak. Her eyes was now less puffy than what it looked a while ago and she's hoping Kim won't notice it.
As she approached near Kim's car, there was a deluging feeling of wanting to hug the latter seeing her leaning on the hood of her car seemingly lost in her deep thoughts. There was this dejected look in her face making her beautiful eyes look so defeated. This is why they perceive her as cold and stoic woman without them having the capability to see beyond of who she really is. She didn't even notice Iris' presence if the latter did not make it apparent.
"Mavy," Kim mumbled as her eyes met Iris' gaze. The way her name rolled off her lips was such a bliss to Iris but there was something different with the way she said it this time. It sounded like she's seeking some solace and only Iris could provide what she needed.
Without letting any seconds pass, Kim pulled Iris in a tight hug and sighed melting into the contact. The older woman seemed to be so jaded and that hug was an attempt to recharge herself. Iris was securely wrapped up in Kim's arms and she reveled on the temporary bliss knowing a storm is about to come. Or was it?
"You okay?" Iris can't help but to ask feeling Kim's exhaustion.
"I badly need this." Kim stated pertaining to the hug they are into and refusing to let go anytime soon.
"Did something happened?" Iris pried a little not wanting to impose anything.
"Mhmm." Kim just hummed and sighed once again. People passing by are now starting to give them a perverse look and it didn't go unnoticed by Iris coz she hates it when people throw indispensable attention towards her.
"Mavy," she called once again and released the younger one free from their hug but missing the warmth immensely. "I wanna bring you home." Kim uttered without faltering while looking straight into Iris' eyes.
Iris' mind was running in circles while trying to digest what Kim has just said while unable to hush her loud thoughts. She badly wants to talk about what she witnessed earlier not being able to keep to herself any longer.
She thought that the best place to talk things out was at Kim's place so she subtly nodded though it wasn't even a question, rather an imposed statement. Both of them were silent and evidently drained for the day but each other's presence made it a little more bearable than dealing with it in solitude.
During the whole ride to Kim's place, they shared a comfortable silence with a low music on the background easing the eerie dead space in between. Kim would hold Iris' hand every once in awhile and the gesture pulls Iris out from her deep reverie making her heart skip a beat. She's been thinking of ways how to crack that topic without being pushy given that what they have between them is still vague.
They reached Kim's place after some time and she was not left unattended. The latter held her hand all the way up to her penthouse causing a little ruckus in her heart. The way Kim make her heart flutter with just one touch, with just a single smile can wake up the swarm of butterflies in her tummy, everything she does makes Iris fall even more but it tasted a little of a bittersweet knowing that she isn't the only girl in Kim's life. Hell she might just be a side chick.
Iris tried her best to push aside every uncertain thoughts flooding her mind and was determined to listen to whatever Kim has to say to. She needs to pacify every question she has in her mind to make peace with herself and there's only one way to do that, communicate.
"I missed you." Kim pulled her for another tight hug the moment the door shut behind them.
Iris couldn't help but to think if it's really genuine or was it because it's her turn of the day? She kept her words and rested her head on Kim's shoulder keeping her cool.
