3rd Person's POV

A drop.

Followed by countless drops. The dark and gloomy sky started shedding it's heavy load. The musky smell of the ground getting wet wafted the entire place.

The little girl clutching on a clad of plastic bag haphazardly raised her hand over her head in hopes of saving herself from getting soaked of the heavy spatter of raindrops.

Her dirty feet against her worn out slippers scurried to the nearest shed. Her clothes are wet as well as the tiny portions of pastries she was clutching. The loud claps of thunder made her flinch. Her heart pounded hard against her chest seeing she's by herself stuck in the pouring rain. She's wondering where her grandmother could have been. They parted ways somewhere along the sidewalks of the metro striving to sell the pastries the old lady has made to earn a living.

The young Kim was frightened not for her safety but for her Nana. She's scared that the old woman might get in trouble with the unkind weather.

At the age of 10, she was already chasing for survival, roaming the streets for a dime not minding the danger it entails. She's determined to be of help with the old woman who's raising her alone. She would attend school in the morning and as soon as her classes are over, she would go straight to her Nana who's sitting along the stretch of their school sidewalk selling whatever she has made by the night.

That act alone makes the old woman's heart leap out of joy. She was the granddaughter every grandparents would ask for. Her innocence didn't hinder to always look out for the old woman. She was her everything as much as she was to the old woman. They were each other's only family for as long as she can remember.

Contemplating to conquer the rain, she run as fast as she could to the direction where she thinks her grandmother was. She didn't mind the pouring rain and just trudge as fast as she can blurring her eyes as the raindrops hits her face. Hugging the pastries with one hand securing they won't fall off and wiping off the splash of rain on her face. Her chest felt instant relief when she saw her Nana under the shed with all their pastries covered with plastic. She was waving at her gesturing for her to hurry up.

"Where have you been!" The old woman asked in a loud voice against the loud pouring rain.

She pointed to where she ran from and rid of the water dropping on her face. She was breathless and tired but none of it seemed to matter as long as she get to her home, her Nana.

KIM'S POV

Here I am again, found myself at the same spot where I always sat few years ago. My warm skin against the cold marble floor, beside me is a bottle of beer. Before my eyes is the overlooking view of the city lights and the twinkling headlights of the cars stuck in traffic.

It's been a while ever since I resume on this spot. I swear to Genevieve that I would never pull something as stupid as I did before and I'm staying true to my words, I'm just here sitting and having a bottle to clear my mind and put me at ease. I have been going through drastic changes for the past months and it's kinda overwhelming to digest.

I just got home from our weekend getaway and I dropped Iris on Shelby's place coz she said that she'll be picking up Susu. I know something's off after that night but I decided not to press on it coz she'll eventually come around.

I can't believe I have gone this far. The recollection of my tumultuous childhood flashed like a vivid movie playing on a fast track. The busy and never resting streets that I am watching over right now was once my refuge that kept me alive. Thinking of how we've survived sent an unsettling feeling in the pit of my stomach. I would never wish to go back to that kind of life even though I have learned a lot from it. I would never want to go back to those days where I need to pray that we could make it through the day.
