Chapter 3. Free running!

Beads of sweat trickled down Cupa's forehead, one mistake could be fatal, we couldn't turn back now, we were too far away already... Our only hope of survival was to reach the fortress and use the portal I made there...

Cupa: wow... So this is the nether? I've never been here before...
Kurch: watch out for ghasts...
Cupa: ghasts... I've only read about them in a library...
Kurch: wait... Library? You mean a villager's library?
Cupa: no... An underground library...
Kurch: what like a fortress?
Cupa: yeah! I even still remember how to get there...
Kurch: then let's move! We can find that underground fortress in the overworld! Right?
Cupa: yup!
Kurch: let's go! Wait... Cupa watch out!!!

Out of nowhere, a ghast appeared and shot a fireball at Cupa and I...
In some sort of instinct, I pushed Cupa to the other side of the bridge we made so that she wouldn't get blasted but in the process, blasting me and launching me towards the hard and rough soul sand... The sand causes me to move more slowly leaving me a sitting duck as the ghast prepared to fire another fireball at me.

"Cupa go! Just go!" I told Cupa, she hesitated, not wanting to leave me to my demise but finally, she went through the portal...
I faced the oncoming fireball, I had lost my sword when it blasted me off the bridge so with one last gasp, I died...

"No!!!" Cupa exclaimed in horror...
"Well, that was my last life..." I said with a sigh while removing my headphones...
"Why did you have to install that mod? It makes things much more difficult..." Cupa said confused.
"It's more challenging that way, I'll just have to wait tomorrow for my new life..." I responded
"Well I think I'll stop playing for now" Cupa said looking a bit sad...

Kurch: why? Aren't you having fun?
Cupa: I am but, I prefer someone playing with me, since your player is dead, I'll just have to wait tomorrow... It's just much more fun to play with you...

Realizing what she had said, Cupa's face glew a bright red, she hid her face from me in an attempt to not embarrass herself...

Kurch: since we're not playing anymore, can I ask you a few questions?
Cupa: o-ok...
Kurch: well let's see... Oh yeah, you said you knew where the underground fortress is, and that you also knew how to get there... Does that mean you've actually been in my world for some time now?
Cupa: yeah I have...
Kurch: then, why haven't I seen you? I mean, my world was made small...
Cupa: to tell you the truth, I was actually hiding from you...
Kurch: why?

Cupa: the first time I saw you... I-I avoided you because I thought that you would slay me, because I was a creeper... But then, I watched you everyday as you went to the forest to get wood, I then realized you weren't really hostile so one day I decided to approach you... You were sleeping that day, so I went to wake you up to say hi... But that was when I woke up in your world.

Kurch: ohh... "Yawns" It's getting late... We should probably go to bed now...

Cupa: but I'm not sleepy just yet...
Kurch: hmm... Okay... Follow me I know what we can do before we sleep...

I led Cupa to the balcony on my hdb block... At night, it was very quiet and peaceful...
This night was extra cold, so I gave Cupa a blanket as we both sat down on a small sofa watching the stars and listening to the seemingly symphonic chimes... It was a nice evening indeed,

Cupa: wow, the sky in this world is so beautiful at night...
Kurch: yeah... It is...
Cupa: the sky in Minecraft is just so... Empty...
Kurch: hey Cupa, if you had a choice, a choice to either stay on this world or in minecraft... What would you choose
Cupa:... This world I guess...
Kurch: why?
Cupa: in minecraft, all that seems to happen there is pointless death, the mobs keep trying to kill you players who just want to build and mine... I don't often see creations there, only mostly destruction.
Kurch: (so she mostly experienced the bad times there huh?)
Cupa: In this world, I don't see much people trying to kill each other on sight
Kurch:( I guess she doesn't have much clue about the horrible things that happen here as well)
Cupa: ( Minecraft is a beautiful place, but it's people like Kurch who make a world a better place... I'm lucky to have found such a kind person...)

After about a few minutes of star gazing, Cupa was feeling sleepy... In some form of instinct, I gave Cupa a small peck on her forehead, this caught Cupa by surprise and made her face glow red, but because of her weariness, she just went with it and leaned her head and used my arm as a pillow. I wrapped my arm around her shoulder as we both sat down there leaning our backs on the soft sofa and prepared to sleep...

Cupa: Kurch?
Kurch: yeah?
Cupa: I... N-nothing...
Kurch: ok...

Cupa blushes under the pale moonlight as we both slowly nodded off into a deep slumber...

(A friend's POV...)

Evan: hey we should probably get some sleep, it's getting kind of late now...
???: just one more minute, I just really like this, 'ice cream'.

Evan:( why isn't she getting hurt from eating that? I mean, ice cream does have a little bit of water, so why isn't she...)

???: there! All done! That was really sweet!

Evan: hey you should drink try drinking some water, all that sweet stuff can give you tonsillitis you know

???: water?! I c-can't drink that! I might die!

Evan: well you managed to survive eating 3 tubs of ice cream, just take a sip and we'll see...

Evan handed the girl a glass of water... She hesitated... And hesitated some more, and then finally, she took one sip... It was a strange feeling for the girl, usually water would hurt her but now, it doesn't seem to... She began to slowly drink the glass of water and soon, it was emptied...

???: I-I just drank water! Yay! I'm invincible now!
Evan: hey don't get too over-excited you'll wake the neighbors up...
???: oops... I-I'm sorry
Evan: It's alright no need for apologies, now, you can sleep on the bed and I'll sleep on the floor...
???: oh okay... Are you going to be fine on the floor?
Evan: I'll be fine...

The both of them walk into Evan's room and prepared to go to sleep...

Evan: goodnight and sweet dreams Andr!
Andr: thanks and You too...

The two finally dozed off in the late night...

(Kurch's POV)

Cupa: rise and shine Kurch!
Kurch: (yawns and stretches) g-goodmorning Cupa...
Cupa: hey get up already...
Kurch: okay okay...
Cupa: I made us breakfast!
Kurch: wow really?

Kurch sat down on the table and waited for the food, Cupa brought it and soon the both of them were eating...
"Wow, this tastes really good!" I complimented.
"Really? Thanks! I was actually watching you cook last time..." Cupa replies with a blushing face and a smile
"Cupa has photographic memory? Wow, not only did she cook an exact replica of the dish I made, she actually improved on it with her own!" Kurch thought in his mind with great commendation.

Kurch: because of this wonderful breakfast, I think I have the energy to do my next favorite thing!
Cupa: and what would that be?
Kurch: Free-running!
Cupa: free-running?
Kurch: it's like running around freely in this world and jumping and basically overcoming obstacles as you run
Cupa: oh you mean like parkour?
Kurch: yeah, it's exactly like that! How did you know that?
Cupa: I've seen a few parkour courses you made in minecraft, I actually tested out what I've learned on your parkour course whenever you were not playing. I've actually gotten really good at it! Or so my friends say...
Kurch: wait, you said you used what you 'learned?'
Cupa: yeah! A friend taught me how to increase my speed and strength in the different parts of my body by focusing, and using my charging capability to focus my energy in a single point!
Kurch: really now? Then let's go test out your skills shall we?
Cupa: okay!

Cupa and I walked to the place where I often free run at, an old factory...
I set up a course and made a starting line and a finishing line, I then lead Cupa to the starting line and we both stretched and prepared for a free-running race...

Kurch: I bet I can beat you!
Cupa: ha! We'll see about that!
Kurch: ready? Get set... Go!!!

Cupa and I dashed forward as we battled to run faster than one another...
We then approached the first obstacle...
