part-29(i want ice cream)

While they were driving back home, Teja suddenly looked at Karan.

"Karan, why were you sleeping in the car?" she asked.

Karan smiled.

"Oh... I was waiting for you, so I accidentally fell asleep."

Teja frowned.

"From when were you waiting?"

Karan glanced at her.

"From the moment you went inside."

Teja's eyes widened.

"What? You didn't even go home? Karan, you're impossible! Why would you do that?"

Karan simply shrugged.

"Because I wanted to."

Teja stared at him for a few seconds before remembering something.

"Wait... why are we going home? I want ice cream."

Karan laughed.

"Oh! You didn't forget. I thought you wouldn't remember."

Teja crossed her arms.

"You are so bad. I'm not talking to you."

"Okay, okay. Sorry, sorry. Let's go."

Karan immediately changed the route and took her to an ice cream shop. Teja happily enjoyed her ice cream while Karan watched her with a smile.

Just then, Karan's phone rang.

The hospital.

His expression became serious.

"Teja, I have to go to the hospital. There's an emergency. Can you come with me?"

"Okay," she replied without hesitation.

"Good. Finish your ice cream in the car."

"Okay."

They got into the car and headed toward the hospital.

After finishing her ice cream, Teja turned toward him.

"Karan, if you don't mind, can I use your phone? I need to make a call."

"Of course. But where's your phone?"

Teja scratched her head.

"Actually... it slipped from my hand this morning and broke."

Karan looked at her in disbelief.

"What? Why didn't you tell me? I would've bought you a new one."

"No, no. It's okay. I'll manage. Don't spend so much."

Karan simply handed her his phone.

"Password?"

"1109."

Teja unlocked it and first called Mom and Dad Kundra, informing them that they were going to the hospital. Then she called her own parents and talked to them for a few minutes.

Soon they reached the hospital.

Karan quickly got out.

"Teja, I have an operation. It'll take around two hours. Stay in my cabin and eat something, okay?"

"Okay."

Karan instructed a staff member to drop her at his cabin before rushing toward the operation theatre.

After reaching his cabin, Teja placed Karan's phone on the table and freshened up.

When she came out, she realized she was hungry.

She thought about going to the cafeteria but then remembered that her purse was still inside the car. All her money was in it.

"Huh... great, Teja," she muttered to herself.

Since she had nothing else to do, she decided to walk around the hospital for a while.

Slowly, she wandered through the corridors, observing the doctors, nurses, and patients moving around.

Everything reminded her of Abhi.

A small smile appeared on her face as she imagined him running through these same hallways, arguing with staff, making everyone laugh, and proudly doing his work.

Lost in those thoughts, she kept walking.

Then suddenly...

She heard something.

Words that instantly pulled her back to the day she had been trying so hard to forget.

Her footsteps stopped.

Her breathing became uneven.

Tears slowly gathered in her eyes.

And before she even realized it...

They began falling.
