KOU

Before I knew it, I caught myself talking to this boy for almost half an hour- and I didn't even think about wanting to leave. His snide comments and interesting sense of humor just somehow.. sat well with me.
"So, tell me the story about the lame-o traffic earring on your ear." Mitsuba smiles as he looks at the traffic ticket earring hanging on my right ear. "Hey! It's not lame- it's actually quite fashionable in my opinion." I smirk and look at him, but my comment makes him laugh. "As if! This has to be some sort of violation to the fashion industry." He smiles as he looks at me, and I can't help but let the smile on my face grow along with his. "No but really- why wear that earring and not some normal one." I look at him, I could tell that he was genuinely curious about my earring. "Oh, well- my parents got it for me at some shrine when I was really little, and I've basically worn it ever since." Mitsuba smiles as he watches me speak, "My mom died when I was young.. so I sort of wear it in honor of her, I guess." I look up at the sky as I finish my sentence, and Mitsuba goes quiet.
I quickly look at him as he looks down at his camera, "Crap—I'm sorry.. that was pretty out of turn. We haven't even known each other that long." Mitsuba just blinks, but he doesn't look up at me. For some reason, he looked almost heavenly from the angle I could see him from. His pink hair shielding everything but his eyelashes, and they fluttered when he blinked. My eyes moved down to his hands, and they sat calmly on his camera- his nails the lightest shade of pink I had ever seen. "I'm sorry to hear that, Minamoto-kun." He looks up at me, catching me staring at his hands. "What the hell are you doing-" He hides his hands with the sleeves of his sweater. "Why are you staring at my hands?" Mitsuba gets a weirded out expression on his face as I look at him, and my eyebrows raise as a nervous flush of red moves into my cheeks. "Uh—what? Oh! I um-" I quickly scoot away a bit as he looks at me, clearly thinking I'm a creep. "I just- sorry about that, I-" I clear my throat before putting a hand on the back of my head.
"I bet you're some gross weird pervert aren't you!" Mitsuba begins whining as he gets up. "You only wanted to talk to me so you could use my cute vulnerability against me and use me for your disgusting pleasures, didn't you!" I quickly shake my head, "What! No way! Why the hell would I want to do that! I'm not a weird creep, I was just trying to look at you!" Mitsubas eyebrows quickly raise, "I bet you never even wanted to be my friend in the first place! You just wanted to get close to me since I'm the cutest one in school, and now you want to use me for all of your weird perverted pleasures because you grew tired of your left hand!" He starts packing up all of his things as I get up. "What the crap are you on about!" I exclaim as I watch him put his backpack on, and my expression made it apparent how confused and upset I was about what was happening.
Mitsuba then began to laugh, and I shot back. "Wha.. why are you laughing?" I blink as I watch him weakly point a finger at me. "Your face!" He mutters out between his laughs, and I just grew more confused. "I don't get it?" I just stand there and watch him laugh, his laughter making a smile creep onto my face. His laughter sounded as sweet as his voice did, and the laughter was genuine. Suddenly, I could feel my face grow warm as he looks at me. "I-I'm sorry.." he wipes his eyes. "It was just a joke.. I like watching people get flustered." Mitsuba smiles as the bell rings, and he walks over to me and gives me a little shove. "You're so pathetic." I step back as he shoves me, a wide smile on my face as I grab my umbrella-disguised staff and my backpack. "Am not! That whole joke was pathetic-" He scoffs as he looks up at me. "As if!! You just don't understand what good sense of humor is." Mitsuba walks through the door back into the school as I open it for him, my head shaking.
This boy definitely had a weird idea of what jokes were, but it was honestly refreshing from the same few inside jokes I hear when I'm with Yokoo and Satou. I genuinely feel like me and this Mitsuba guy have best friend potential.. but why did I feel the way I did when I was looking at him just a few minutes ago?
