Night:
Night is an 18 year old who has finished his last year of high school in a province slightly far from the city. However, he is attending an academy during his summer break, which is in Bangkok. During his time at the academy, he became friends with a guy named Gus. Gus is basically the extroverted version of Night, which makes it very easy for them to understand each other, meaning, in no time, they became the best of friends. Night has always struggled with making friends, so having one like Gus meant the world to him.
Gus had noticed and mentioned to Night that driving two hours to and from the province everyday, cannot be good for his health and that Night could stay with him at his place, which was in the city. Night said he would ask his older brother, Day, because he basically raised Night all on his own and obtained a parental status, but Night had never gotten to asking him because Day kept having bad days or it wasn't the right time. And Day was a pretty scary guy when he was upset.
3 weeks into his academy program, Night felt so tired that he almost fell asleep at the wheel and decided that he had to talk to his brother that night. When he got home, the first thing he did was ask his brother to sit down and talk with him, confusing Day, who was just walking back to the lounge room with a coffee to drink while watching some TV.
"P'Day, driving to and from the academy is really burning me out. I almost fell asleep at the wheel today. I'm so exhausted. Even Gus noticed and he asked me if I wanted to stay at his place with him, as his parents are usually always away and so he and his brother have the whole house to themselves. Please, can I stay with him, only for 3 weeks, and then the program will be over and I can live in on-campus accommodation when I go to university? Na?" Night asked his brother.
Day was slightly shocked by this sudden information as he had noticed his brother was tired but not to this extent. He sighed slightly and said, "Why didn't you tell me sooner, I could've helped? You can stay with Gus but I want you to call me everyday, okay? If you don't call me, at least send me a text as to why you couldn't call. If you don't, I'll drive there and make sure you're okay, got it?
Night was so happy with his brother's quick acceptance that he jumped up to hug his brother. "Thank you, P'Day! You're the best!"
Slightly laughing while hugging Night back, Day asked, "Are you going to move in with him on Monday?" (As it was a Friday that day and they didn't have the program on the weekends).
"Yep. I'll drive to the academy Monday morning and then go with him to his place after the academy." Night happily replied.
Day then got up and started preparing dinner while Night went to take a shower and relax a bit.
Night made sure to text Gus and let him know that he could stay at his place for the remainder of the academy program. They excitedly texted back and forth about the movies they would watch, places they would go out to eat, and games they would play in their free time, as they already knew which universities they were going to go to and what they would study (they both picked exactly the same courses at the same universities, a lucky coincidence).
Over the weekend, Night packed anything and everything he could possibly need, while Day helped him when he was free. Night had to admit, he felt kind of bad, seeing his brother's face, which was always stressed and tired, but he knew that if he asked what was upsetting him, his brother would never tell him. So Night tried his best to be positive and help Day forget his problems for a few hours.
When Monday came, Night woke up and immediately, there was a wide smile on his little face. After he hurriedly got ready for school, Night basically ran down the stairs and into the kitchen. His big, bright eyes got even bigger when he smelled pancakes.
"P'Day, You're making pancakes!" Night excitedly shouted.
Day laughed a little and told Night to sit down so that they could both eat and leave on time.
When Night got to the academy, as soon as he and Gus spotted each other, they both started laughing with excitement. The rest of the school day was boring as usual, and even though nothing had gone wrong, Night couldn't explain why he had this feeling in his heart that something bad was going to happen.
Night drove to Gus's house, following his GPS. When he arrived, he was in awe. He knew Gus was rich, but not that rich. Their house was massive. It had a modern yet comfy vibe about it, thanks to the greenery distributed around the property, and the clean marble look of the house. Gus, who was already there and was waiting outside for Night, showed him where to park.
After Night got out of the car, Gus said, "Come on, I'll show you around first and then we can take your stuff into my room...unless you want to stay in the guest bedroom, that's fine too." Gus rushed to say the last part because he wasn't sure if Night wanted some space or not, due to his low social battery.
Night laughed slightly and understood what his friend meant and immediately replied, "No, no, it's okay. I want to stay with you. We can stay up playing games and watching movies and eating food." Even though Night normally prefers to have some time alone to recharge, he was trying to change himself slightly, and he didn't know when he would ever have a 3 week sleepover with his best friend again. He wanted to make the most of it and have as much fun as possible.
After Night had gotten settled in, they both finished off their homework for that day and then ate some snacks while talking and planning where they would go in the next few days. As they were discussing things, they both heard a car pull up.
Gus sighed and complained to Night that it was probably his brother, who was probably out with his friends again. And he was right.
Night knew Gus didn't like his brother very much because he saw him as selfish and irresponsible, but he didn't know much more than that. But when he saw Gear, Gus's older brother, walking in through the door, while brushing his hair back from his eyes, his face slightly red, eyes kind of glazed over, yet his body seemed completely unaffected by the alcohol that was probably in his system, Night had a feeling he knew what Gus had meant.
