Chapter 23

Duchess Catherine's POV

"William, darling, can you tell me what was happening with you and Katelyn?" I ask William when we retire to our room. "Katie and I were checking Meghan's background," says William. "Did you do that to me when we were in our dating days?" I ask. "No, the point is Meghan going to marry in this family. At the same time, new blood is welcomed but Katelyn has a feeling that Meghan wants to have a change in the system her way," says William.

I don't mind a change, besides we have broken multiple royal traditions and dubbed by the media that we are the generation to modernise the monarchy. Our kids are growing up, and sooner or later, they will know their places in the family. "Have you told Harry about this?" I ask. "Not yet, we're gonna tell him what we think about Meghan," says William. "Don't think much, okay? And you, do give mummy some rest," he says to my growing bump. I do have some difficulty sleeping because of the baby's constant moving.

Prince William's POV

Catherine is right, Katelyn and I should not do a background check but what we did is for Harry and his future. I drift into sleep after that, it's a long day and the little one will be coming in just a few months, soon we will be a family of five. Luckily, Charlotte can keep her position if the baby is a boy, she will be the first British Princess not to be displaced by a younger brother. I have to thank Granny for that to change the rules! I know Charlotte is going to do great, and so is George. He is starting to understand a bit but we know he is four, so we're letting him do what any four-year-old does - have fun!

Princess Katelyn's POV

I called Niall since the last time I spoke to him.

Katelyn (K): Hey, Niall!

Niall (N): Hey, how's my favourite sibling doing?

K: Niall, I'm your only sibling. I just want to call to say hi and see how are you doing these days.

N: Yeah, since we 1D people decided to take a break, I felt fresher to be honest!

K: Good! Cause your single Slow Hands is charting the UK music list! Gosh, I wish you were back home!

N: I know but I'm in the US now, preparing for new music. By the way, Meghan is (Prince) Harry's new partner?

K: Yeah, she came over to see us and she seems nice. Will and Kate are taking a liking to her, and so does Kendall.

N: You're not convinced yourself, Katie?

K: Niall, now you sound like William! Anyway, I just need time to take it in.

N: I'm sure you and Meghan will get along well. By the way, have you decided on the engagement announcement yet?

K: I have, we will be announcing on 16 November. You can prepare the statement now, haha!

N: You chose the date when William announced his engagement to Kate.

K: Yeah, William is okay with the date. (Louis in the background): Niall, is that Katelyn? Tell the lads I say hi and hi Louis!

N: Sure do, sis! The lads said hi too and we can't wait to make a trip back home so I can visit you!

K: Okay, I gotta hang up soon! Bye, Niall! I love you (blowing a kiss on the phone).

N: Love you too!

End of conversation

Kendall comes in and asks who was I talking to I said I was talking to Niall. "Yeah, you two have not spoken for a while. How are the 1D boys?" asks Kendall. "They are doing well and the boys said hi to us," I say. "How nice to hear from them!" says Kendall. He also asks when Niall is coming back home to the UK, "I'm not sure on the exact date he is coming home but we will find out soon," I say.

"Is there anything missing?" I ask Kendall. "Actually, yes!" he picks me up to kiss him. It feels so good! After Kendall put me down, I wanted a second one to be honest. "You know if you want to kiss me, just do it, Katelyn!" he says. We kiss again! We pull apart, and Kendall tells me to sleep well because I have a real visit with William and Kate. "I'll say good night, Princess Katelyn!" Kendall exits my room.

Royal Duty Day: Remembrance Day Week 2017

It's the yearly Remembrance Day Week, one of the important dates in the royal calendar. During the past few weeks, we have been wearing poppies to mark the occasion. Today is no exception. I wear a green coat dress with black boots and a poppy to finish the look. I tie up my hair because the autumnal wind would make my hair messy.

I'm going to read a children's book on the poppy and make a speech - Wiliam wanted me to. We were discussing all night after dinner who should make the speech, and in the end, the decision was I got to make a speech.

When the emcee announces "I would like Her Royal Highness Princess Katelyn of Wales to deliver her speech, thank you. Your Royal Highness," I look at the crowd and glance at William and Kate.

First, thank you for inviting William, Catherine and me to mark Remembrance Day Week. I used to be curious why poppies are a significant flower. My foster mum told me to remember the people who sacrificed for us.

For my Granny, Her Majesty The Queen has seen the change throughout her life and reign. As we come to the present, we can see the change in our lives. Dream, write and live our stories for generations to come!

Remembrance Day is not just remembering about the past but remembering the present that we have today and I hope all of us will keep the memories alive for those we have lost and at least they are together with us.

After my speech, I went down the stage to join William and Kate. "You were great!" whispers William, I said thanks. After a group photo, it was time for a short walkabout to meet the people waiting for us outside. Kate and I receive lots of flowers, I can see Charlotte's hands are full of them. "Princess, we have a few minutes left, five minutes to be exact," Joe reminds me and I nod. "Bye everyone, thank you for coming!" I heard William bidding goodbye to the crowd.

"Come, Princess," Joe guides me to the car. We waved to the crowd as the car was driven off. One duty down today and more to go.

Kendall's POV

Katelyn is out on her duties and I see she and her siblings wearing a poppy pin on them. She told me Remembrance Day is coming up so it's a big event for The Royal Family. "Mr. Horan, Her Royal Highness isn't back from her work but Mr. Schmidt is inside," I heard the staff saying. Niall? He's here? I head downstairs to see if it's him.

"Niall, a surprise to see you here! You should have texted Katelyn on your home visit to the UK!" I hug Niall. "Well, I decided to give The Princess a surprise," he says. "It's Remembrance Week, she is out with William and Kate," I say. I notice Niall has a poppy pin too! "I'll put my stuff in the room and then we can jam a little song," says Niall. I like a jam to a few songs. Just like good old times with my BTR boys!

Back from royal duty

Prince Willliam's POV

We are back from royal duty, "Katie, come on!" I say as Katelyn jumps out of the car. "William, you know I'm 22!" Katelyn rolls her eyes. "You're still my baby sibling," I say.

I text Niall: Katelyn is coming in!

I can't wait to see Kayelyn's reaction when she sees Niall.

Princess Katelyn's POV

I always see if there are any guests by looking at the shoe rack and I see a familiar pair of shoes. I know because I gave that to Niall for Christmas last year (2016).
