"Dale. Have you seen Carl?" Lori called up to him as she walked by with some firewood a few hours later, Harley helping to carry some as well.

"Shane took him down to the quarry with Cassie. There was some mighty bold talk about catching frogs." Dale answered with a smile and Lori glanced over. She looked down to the quarry where Shane was playing in the water with Carl and I, splashing wildly. Lori looked back to find Emily preparing lunch, the other women down by the quarry doing the laundry.

"I'm not getting anything." Carl complained with disappointment.

"Yeah. Being all wily, staying submerged. Little suckers, they know something's up. That's what's going on." Shane claimed while I scrunched up my face, not believing him. "Just going to have to do this the old-fashioned way." He stood up and got into the water knee deep.

"All right, you two, look. You are the... you are the key in all this, okay? All I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go after one of them, all right, scare the rest of them off. They're all gonna scatter. I'm gonna drive 'em your way, okay?" Shane prompted us both.

"All right." Carl said and I nodded along eagerly.

"What you need to do is you need to round up every bad boy you see, all right? Are you with me?"

"Yeah."

"Yeah."

"Hells yeah. Give me your mean face." Shane gave us his order. The two of us pulled our best mean faces, growling back at him as he broke out into a smile.

"Yes sir. Are you ready?" Shane asked one last time.

"Yeah!" We both cheered.

"Are you ready? Here we go, boy. Here we go." Shane went silent, the two of us watching closely before he started splashing around wildly.

"All right, they're coming your way. They're coming your way. Go on, get 'em, get 'em. They're coming your way, come on. Catch them frogs. Catch them frogs. They're coming, little man! Get 'em! Get that net in there and get 'em!" Shane cheered to us both, all of us laughing loudly.

"They're coming, little man! Get 'em! Get that net in there and get 'em! What have you got, bad boy? What do you got? What do you got?"

"Dirt." I sighed, pulling up the nets to see nothing and giving Shane an unimpressed look.

"Oh boy." Shane placed his hands on his hips. "All right, we've got to start over. Come on, let's find this bucket." He started fishing around the water for the bucket he had dropped.

"Hey, Carl, what did I tell you about not leaving Dale's sight?" Lori questioned, walking down to join us.

"But Shane said we could catch frogs, remember?" Carl looked up to her.
