. . .
. . .
"Shane, enough." Rick shouted.
"Yeah, you're right, man. That is enough." Shane agreed, walking up close and shooting the walker in the head like it meant nothing. The Walker crashed to the ground, everyone watching as Hershel let go of the snare pole.
Lori kept her hold on Carl and I firm as she watched with fear. She stepped forward, keeping us both behind her for protection as Carl took my hand. Harley stumbled back a few steps in shock, Carol covering her mouth and Andrea watching in horror for the monster Shane was becoming.
"Enough risking our lives for a little girl who's gone! Enough living next to a barn full of things that are trying to kill us" Shane chanted out, Maggie on her knees beside her father.
"No, stop!" Emily moved away from Lori who was unable to catch her this time, Harley instead jumping in to catch Emily, Carol grabbing onto the Walsh woman's other shoulder to keep her back.
"Enough. Rick, it ain't like it was before!" He now addressed his friend who was beyond betrayed, not caring about his sister who couldn't even recognize the man before her. "Now if y'all want to live, if you want to survive, you got to fight for it! I'm talking about fighting right here, right now." Shane started to run back towards the barn.
"Take the snare pole. Hershel, take the snare pole. Hershel, listen to me, man, please."Rick pleaded with the man, trying to hand off the walker to him so he could deal with his friend but Hershel was in shock, barely comprehending what was going on."Take it now. Hershel! Take it!"
"Shane! Stop it!" Emily cried out again, Harley keeping her back as the woman started to cry, feeling like a little kid again now with nobody to wipe her tears.
"Rick!" Lori shouted out to her husband, hugging Carl and I in front of her now. Shane swung the pick axe into the barn door trying to open it by force.
"No, Shane. Do not do this, brother. Wait!" Rick called.
"Don't do it!" Emily begged, holding onto Carols hand like her life depended on it, Harley being the only thing keeping her from falling to her knees.
"Rick!"
"Please!"
"Shane!"
"Come on. Come on, we're out here." Shane pounded on the door after getting the bar that blocked across the doors loose and throwing it aside.
"This is not the way! Please!"
"Get behind me." Lori tried to pull us both behind her but I had other plans.
"Daddy!" I cried out, breaking out of Carl and Loris hold and taking off towards my father who was so focused on protecting me he had forgotten that I was witnessing all of this. The Dixon man glanced over his shoulder, panic striking his face in a way no one had ever seen before at the sound of his scared daughter calling out for him.
