"Dude, nice lid, man." Shane commented, walking over to find Carl standing by the RV wearing the sheriffs hat which had belonged to his father. "What's going on?" He asked, tipping Carls hat slightly.
"I want to learn to shoot too." Carl said with confidence. "Can you teach me?"
"Well, man, that's... that's up to your parents." Shane said, taking a bite of the peach he held and sitting in front of the RV.
"Can you talk to them? They'll listen to you." Carl said. "And Daryl taught Cassie how to use weapons, so I should learn too"
"We'll see, okay?" Shane said after laughing. "And the Dixons are crazy, but he taught her to hunt for food not kill walkers" he corrected, knowing Carl thought that he could do anything I could do.
"Hey. Let me see what you've got there." He called Carl back just as the boy was about to walk off, fiddling with something. Carl lifted his shirt, revealing a gun tucked into his pants. Shane threw his peach aside before bringing the matter to Lori and Rick.
"Hi, Carl!" I waved to him as he and Shane were walking over to camp just as I was about to look for my friend.
"Not now, Cassie" Shane said sternly, pulling Carl with him. I stopped walking, watching them walk by, Shane practically dragging Carl.
"How the hell did this happen?" Lori asked, taking the gun and making sure it was unloaded. Carl sat a few feet away while Lori, Dale, Rick and Shane talked about the issue and how to handle it.
"Well, it's my fault. I let him into the RV. He said he wanted a walkie, that you sent him for one." Dale took responsibility.
"So on top of everything else, he lied." Lori grew furious with the boy. "What's he thinking?" She looked to her husband, Carl hanging his head low.
"He wants to learn how to shoot. Mentioned how Cassie knew how to use weapons." Shane said, Ricks mind clearly seeing it as Carl trying to impress the only girl his age in the camp. "He asked me to teach him. Now it's none of my business, but I'm happy to do it. It's your call." Shane told them what he knew of the situation.
"I'm not comfortable with it." Lori shook her head instantly. Rick stayed silent and Shane huffed, Lori catching their shared looks. "Oh, don't make me out to be the unreasonable one here. Rick?" She shot him a look for support.
"I know. I have my concerns too, but..." He trialed in his defence.
"There's no but. He was just shot. He's just back on his feet and he wants a gun?" Lori countered.
"Better than him being afraid of 'em. There are guns in camp for a reason. He should learn to handle them safely." Rick reminded her, seeing as there were enough weapons in camp for him to get his hands on one.
