. . .
. . .
Outside Carl, Harley and I were sitting by the fire pit, playing a game of go fish. Emily came running out, a worried expression clear on her face.
"Andrea, have you seen Maggie or Hershel?" The Walsh woman called up to the blond standing on top of the RV.
"I haven't seen Hershel, but I saw Maggie and Glenn walk by maybe 20 minutes ago." Andrea replied.
"Could you find her for me? I've gotta get back to the house."
"Of course." Andrea nodded back, not knowing what had Emily so worried but knowing that it must be serious. Emily turned back, rushing towards the house again to keep an eye on Beth.
"Hey, Harley! I need you to take watch!" Andrea called down to our small group.
"I'm watching the kids" Harley replied, shooting Andrea a look.
"Kids, go play by Lori and Carol" Andrea told us, Carl and I sharing a look before walking off, leaving Harley to huff and take watch.
"Where's Hershel?" Andrea asked, her sitting on the counter while Emily leaned against the sink nervously fiddling with her fingers, in front of her.
"Maggie doesn't want him to find out yet." Emily said in a quiet tone, head down. "It's a family affair. We'll let them work it out." Emily said reminding herself that Beth was not her responsibility.
"That's working it out?" Andrea asked wearily.
"When Beth stops fighting, that's when it's time to worry." Emily said with a slight shrug.
"You are being so selfish!" Maggie screamed at her little sister from the next room over.
"This could've been handled better." Andrea claimed in thought.
"How so?"
"You shouldn't have taken the knife away."
"Excuse me?" Emily's head shot up, the stern gaze of the Walsh siblings crossing her with a look that could kill.
"You were wrong, like Dale taking my gun. That wasn't your decision. She has to choose to live on her own. She has to find her own reasons." Andrea shook her head.
"Want me to tie a noose for her?" Emily snapped back, the subject hitting a nerve that Andrea would regret.
"If she's serious, she'll figure out a way."
"Doesn't mean I can't stop her or let her know that I care." Emily said harshly.
"That has nothing to do with it, Emily. She only has so many choices in front of her, and she believes the best one is suicide." Andrea explained casually.
