"You do want this. Last night you said you knew it was just a matter of time before everybody you loved was dead." Jenner told Rick who glanced to Lori.

"What?"

"What? You really said that? After all your big talk?" Shane looked to Rick feeling betrayed.

"I had to keep hope alive, didn't I?" Rick claimed.

"There is no hope. There never was." Jenner claimed and I shifted away from Emily slightly, deep down wanting to isolate myself.

"There's always hope. Maybe it won't be you, maybe not here, but somebody somewhere..." Rick said determined to keep the hope of life and survival somewhere.

"What part of 'everything is gone' do you not understand?" Andrea shot back at him harshly.

"Listen to your friend. She gets it. This is what takes us down. This is our extinction event."

"This isn't right." Carol cried. "You can't just keep us here."

"One tiny moment... a millisecond. No pain."

"My daughter doesn't deserve to die like this." Carol continued.

"Wouldn't it be kinder, more compassionate to just hold your loved ones and wait for the clock to run down?" Jenner questioned as Dale helped Carol and Sophia to their feet.

"Shane, no!" Rick shouted when Shane had walked back over with a shotgun.

"Out of the way, Rick!" Shane fought back. "Stay out of my way! Open that door or I'm gonna blow your head off. Do you hear me?" Shane pointed the gun at Jenner, no hesitation in his voice.

"Up, come on" Lori urged us to our feet and moving us back further from Shane. Emily stepped up, ready to talk her brother down while I was handed off to Lori.

"Brother, brother, this is not the way you do this. We will never get out of here." Rick reminded sternly.

"Shane, you listen to him." Emily spoke sternly too.

"It's too late."

"He dies, we all..." Rick continued but Shane started screaming at Jenner. "...We all die! Shane! Shane!" Rick shouted over him and Shane turned, firing at the computers wildly, Harley, Lori and Emily pulled us kids down for cover as the mad man let loose.

Rick fought Shane for the gun before knocking him down and holding the end of the gun over him in a threat to knock him out of he didn't stop.

"Are you done now? Are you done?" Rick asked him when things calmed down slightly.

"Yeah, I guess we all are." Shane spat back. Rick handed the gun off to T-Dog before glancing around the horrified group.

"I think you're lying." Rick started.
