He was lying down like a lifeless figure on the bed, reminiscing what his parent told him the past two days and ever since he hasn't been his normal self again. Muhd was now regretting his life decisions, if only he wasn't stupid enough to believe what Ibrahim and Zarah told him about Maryam two or more years back because honestly he has now lost count of time, nothing pleases him anymore. Yes life has been different ever since his break up with Maryam and he has met a dozen of girls after her but none was like her, she was just different. He kept searching for that Maryam he lost in many girls but his search never yielded the result he yearns.

He was recalling how his parent broke the bad news to him because that seriously can't be good news to anyone except for the fact that Maryam was innocent, heck she has always been but he was too dumb to see it. That very same day that Alhaji Nabeel branched at their home from Katsina he came back a little bit later than usual due to the heavy site work he was supervising. Muhd came back from work exhausted but that didn't make him to miss the sad look on his parents face. His father who was surprisingly at home that time because he used to be in the office until 7pm was watching the news chanel while his mother was pressing her phone. He immediately knew that something is wrong and he hoped that he isn't the reason for their distress.

"Mama lafiya dai koh? You two look worried, I hope all is well." He said seating down on the carpet directly opposite them but then there came the silence again and after some few seconds his mother sighed.

"Muhammad kayi gaggawa! You should have thought twice before making your decision, the prophet (pbuh) have always warned us to not be in a haste and don't make a decision when you are angry because sooner or later you will regret it." She sighed again and then didn't say a word more. If Muhd was confused before then it's raised to the power of one hundred now. He is already loosing his mind trying to put the puzzle together but his mother's words left him clueless. Like what did he do again this time around? He asks himself.

"Hhmm! I have always known that a day like this will come where you will be exactly in the situation that you are now, confused. You want to know what it is that you have done koh? Well it's nothing new, it is that same decision you have taken several months back and by that I mean calling off your wedding with Maryam. Toh gaskiya dai tayi halin ta and unfortunately it's too late for you to rectify your mistake because very soon Maryam will be someone else's wife." His father said with a now blank expression. Muhd was still, he couldn't even move a finger. He sat down there numb as his mother take him through what Alhaji Nabeel told them and it all made sense to him now right from how Zarah stole his number from her sister's phone to Ibrahim just showing up suddenly and feeding him with all those stupid talks. But he turned out to be a bigger stupid for him to have believed them and judged Maryam's character.

"Toh yanzu dai wa gari ya waya? This was why we asked you me yasa baka yi shawara ba kafin ka yanke hukunci but you said you knew what you are doing and your decision is for the betterment of this family, hhmmn betterment indeed. Anyways, the deed has already been done, I hope you have learnt your lesson now the hard way. Never make decision in a haste and never listen to what people say about anyone without thorough investigation from your side even if the person who told you is their blood relative because the devil is everywhere now and even comes in the name of a sister or brother." His parents left him there rooted on the floor he was trying to organize his mind but it's not working the more he tries the harder it gets and he has to give up. He gathered his scrambled thoughts, phone and car key and dragged his self to his room.

Ever since then he hasn't been the same, in fact he missed work today because he knows he can't be productive even if he goes. Maybe he should call Maryam and apologize, maybe just maybe he might feel a little bit better or less guilty than he feels now. But how can he start calling her now? From where is he even going to start?? He asks his self again. A part of him want solely blame Zarah and Ibrahim for putting him in this situation but he knows better than to do that because if they are at fault then he is even more at it because he was the one that believed them and what they told him and now they have collectively cost him the love of his life, a good wife, a best friend and a wonderful mother to his children. He knows that even if Maryam forgives him, his life will never be the same without her and he will continue to regret the day he let her go for the rest of his life. But then it's too late now, he just have to learn to live with this fact for as long as he lives.
