                         ~Dream~

Everything seemed to be dark. Cold too. I couldn't see anything, but I could feel.

I was laying on the ground, I was sure of it. Laying on the ground in a cold pool. Water surrounded me. I felt it. It rippled against my skin. It didn't drown me, it more...comforted me? It kept me afloat.

I felt my body. My arms and my legs. But I couldn't move them. I couldn't open my eyes either. And all I heard were...
echoes? Dripping? Ripples? Emptiness?

Where had everyone gone? I was sure...
Memories...
They were memories, weren't they...?

The air seemed to grow colder as I came to this realisation. The echoes seemed to turn more hollow...more alone.

The familiarity of it all hit me. I was here again...

That's right. I was here again. And I was alone, wasn't I?

What had happened again? I couldn't remember...

Was I dead? No. No...I couldn't be. I've been here before...
I've been here so many times...
Though I still couldn't quite place where exactly I was...

Ah. I remember.

I come here when I get hurt. But...
It seems emptier this time...
Darker. Hollow. Like an empty husk.

Perhaps I went too far this time?

But..
The others are safe...aren't they? And those people...I didn't let them get away with what they did. That makes it worth it...doesn't it?...
It makes all the pain worth it...

Perhaps I really will die this time?
Maybe...maybe it's finally time...

The water began to ripple and I felt the air grow thick. It was unbearable, but somehow...very familiar.

A clicking seemed to echo through the air, like a tutting sound. Like a scolding.

"Y/n.."

A voice. It's familiar...
Cold and deep, gravely too.

The voice seemed to chuckle.

"Are you giving up?"
There was a brief pause.
"Again?"

It seemed to come closer. It became louder.

The voice clicked again.
"You always were disappointing..."
A cold breeze coated my body.
"Is this what I taught you?"
It's voice bounced in the air.
"To give up?"

Ah. I know this voice...this tone..
It was my father...
He never seemed to leave me alone...
He always lingered around...
Why was it always him? Can't I just have some peace?

Footsteps seemed to echo around me as the tutting continued.

"I always knew you'd die this way."
"Shut up."
"Alone."
"I'm not."
"Of course. That's why you had to save yourself, isn't it?"
"Just...just leave me alone..."
"Is the truth too hard to swallow, little one?"

The air went silent and I couldn't seem to find my words. It was almost as if I was choking...
Choking on my own words that I couldn't find.
